Ive had a couple of goes at re manufacturing these lower inner panels that are behind the rear quater at the rear of the wheel arch. After much frustration can someone who has tackled this job point me in the direction of someone who sells replacement repair panels. I require both left and right as they have cancer and are to thin to repair. TIA

Phew!!!!!
No panic stations just yet.
I've just heard a reply frrom two different engineers in SA and both have not heard or received any confirmation of engine limitsthrough a National Code of Practice to be implemented any time soon. Not to say it is not going to happen but at this stage I've still got some time up my sleeve.

When I was in Queensland I looked at my options and spoke to the Department of Tansport up there and was informed the maximum capacity engine that could be registered into my FC was 307ci, Hence why I have now gone down the path of a 304ci. That information I believe that figure was worked on a power to weight ration based on a Tare weight of a Standard Sedan from GMH Specifications.
I may be wrong, and the powers that be have a tendency to move to goal posts without warning so things may have changed.

Hi Guys. Thinking of having a crack at shortening my diff over the christmas break. Since the V6 plans are way behind me and now the 304 is the way of the future, I was wondering if v8 Axles (correct me if im worng " 28 spline) will fit inside my V6 (24 spine)diff housing. Figured if I purchased two short V8 diff splines, with diff centres to suit and cut the long side of the axle to suit would it still work. By shortening only one side wont the diff be off centre. Is this a concern. I thought shortening both sides would be the way to go, rather than just one side and having the diff offset?
Cheers

I was one for a good 2 years before I got a FC. It helped me get ideas and inspiration prior to finding a car. Im sure most of us are a bit of a serial peeping tom when it comes to forums.

Not an overly productive weekend. Kart state titles in town this weekend so I spent most of it out there pit crewing seeing as I was not racing. Did manage to score myself a little present for the Send rebuild though. The engine, a 304 V8, instead of the V6 is solely the fault of NES232 for his decision to upgrade. It got cogs turning in my head, and its the same amount of engineering to get it complianced to the decision to purchase was made, one was sourced and Wolah. Its now in my shed. Spent Saturday morning removing it from the donar car along with a few other goodies to help it run, like the ignition coil, radiator and so on. It is coupled with the M30 auto trans but until I get some rust repairs completed and the floor of the cabin re installed it wont be going much further at this stage. I've started the job of drilling out the spot welds on the lower sills so I can remove and then replace them. The other piece of good news I found out of the weekend, the red 186 i've had sitting at a mates house in his shed for nigh on 8 years now is actually a 186S from the HK/T/G series. Not a made score for $50 I paid for it at the time.

Had an arrival in the mail today.
These books came highly recommended by JB, even though it was a couple of years ago when we both resided in Cairns.
Have not had a chance to read them from cover to cover yet, but look forward to doing so and applying any applicable principles to my own build.
Ordered through the buildbookusa website, and arrived here in Australia to my door with 11 days..Have also removed the floor again from the car for ease of access to rust repairs in the front of the side seals. Have cut a sample of the problem piece out and started to fabricate a replacement piece from 2mm sheet. LH side is worse than the drivers side so I'll attack the passenger side first.

FE Ambo left this morning to go to Adelaide for the Sunday Cruise with the HD HR Car club, so he should be back Monday evening. Fingers crossed. I've been looking for a HT Premier Sedan in Monza Blue with a white roof now for over 6 years. The two ive found where 4000kms away and no way to get it looked at and the other was a rust bucket beyond fesiable repair. Still I wait and wait and stay hopeful. You could start again, make a replica of your old car and have the "fun" of building another project.

I have contacted Motor Transport Inspection Depot locally who suppplied me with number for SA Vehicle Standards - (ph. 1300 882 248 ) I have rang them and spoke to a bloke who was very helpful and interested in what I was doing. They are sending out a list of certified engineers in the state for me to contact. I have also downloaded a form to submit to the Department of Vehicle Standard stating all mods I plan to make and once submitted they will send me a list of the mods that need to be signed off on. http://www.sa.gov.au/upload/franchise/Transport,%20travel%20and%20motoring/Motoring/Vehicle%20Standards%20and%20Modifications/MR620%20APPLICATION%20TO%20MODIFY%20Motor%20Vehicle.pdfThey told me the engineer would normally come and look at the car at the start of the project and not want to see it again until it was roadworthy. Does this sound correct? I would have thought it would need to be inspected during the build process, so as to if anything is wrong then you don't have to undo any work. Particalry if its already been painted etc and things could get hidden. Maybe I'll send him/her a link to my topic on the forum and they can stay updated that way. Seems to easy Anyhow, any feedback on SA engineers good or bad would be appreciated. Jase
