Great idea mate,I am still running a lot of pitted original chrome as it is very expensive to get it re-done.If and when I get the cash together I will get it rechromed but it will do for now.

Hi NickZ; I am the same as TTV6FC and still using some pitted chrome work after a long build I couldn't justify the huge chroming cost just picked the best stuff I could find. Red paint looks like it works well. One of the guys over here in the west had 2 bumpers done and it cost him $1500.
Regards Neil H

Add me to the list on using pitted chrome - the cost of re-chroming can't be justified at this stage. It still looks ok with a polish and it will do for now.

Jobs finished this week. Clutch, Used a Trailer brake master cylinder, fits perfect with the VH booster, there is only millimeters between them. Gear shifter, Moved it forward, had to make some custom bracket/linkages. Rear gearbox mount finished and tail shaft in. its all ready to drive and will drive with a fuel tank and radiator.

New motor. New suspension. Fresh rebuilt 138, 30thou over pistons and a mild cam. 3 speed crash box. back to 4 wheel drum brakes. and back to being drivable again, only a few things left to do like Gear shift, tie rod ends, front springs, handbrake, front bumper, door/boot rubbers, windlacing and a buff then put the stainless on.

You have been a busy boy. So what's the plan for the next few years with the car. Will it be a daily or weekend car.

it will be si rego, so only taken out a few times a year. put in new springs in the front, look like a old drag car sitting up at the front. also the seat cover from pete is now in, i changed it a bit and it looks fantastic as i have no real budget left for a new interior yet.

Great progress. Are those plastic seat trims interchangeable with FC? I may have better luck finding EK if they can be made to fit.

The EK trims fit OK but are not as tall up the back as FC. this is a small issue for original seats, but no problem if you are getting a retrim.

the EK metal seat sides are much better than the plastic and fitted without ant modifications.
I still have to block it back and buff it before i can put all the stainless and door handles, Im not looking forward to that.

I has an EK 40 years ago & hadn't remembered they were metal. Lucky they fit. The old plastic in the FCs lasted so many years in service that I don't think anyone could complain.
