Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Thermo fan switch

Pedro, they go under the hose... need to fit them very carefully and gently. Can be a problem to seal after refitting hose and clamp(s). Best to use a sealant around the capillary where it fits under the hose, and check carefully for leaks at full coolant pressure/temp... I recently used Sikaflex; worked perfectly, but may cause issues when I have to remove the hose... The Craig Davies switch has adjustable cut-in temp setting, and usually needs a bit of time/experimentation to get the right compromise between coolant not getting too hot and fan cutting in when not necessary (some people think most thermo fans lose efficiency as they get more hours on them; I tend to agree. Best not to have them running until they're needed - save fuel too ) I've used these switches on my last 3 cars and had no real problems. cheers, jack

We went there on the trip home from the Orange Nats. Added almost 200 km to the trip but well worth it.
DEFINITELY worth a visit if you're anywhere 'within a bulls roar' of the area...
Highly recommended

Thanks for the great pics (that bloke with the green FC ute must be colour-blind, though.... he's painted the engine red!! even worse, he's stuck a whole heap of non-standard shiny bits on one side of the motor... and tried to con us into thinking they're NASCO accessories... fair go, mate - we all know FCs have grey motors, and that shiny thing doesn't look anything remotely like a grey motor air cleaner...) Congratulations, Mark!! (you bloody 'SCW' )

It was a bit wet today so Ill walk down the back paddock tomoz and scout around inside the ute for a badge, I know the one you mean but a pick to confirm would be good.
Ian, sorry for the hijack.... Deano; pic of '37 hopefully attached. The badge needed is the higher one on the centre of the grille (a close look at the pic will show part of the badge is broken off...) cheers, jack

and some coat hooks in the back for his cardigan and hat. doubt he'll need the coat hooks - his white bowling club hat sits on the rear parcel shelf.... (right alongside the nodding dog with eyes that light up red when he applies the brakes )

Not too keen on the idea of changing anything in the dash Mark did they look similar, (plus i didn't keep the Dunnydore one) Pedro
Pedro, I think Jack (fc-fer-me) used a commodore fuel gauge in the original FC housing... have a look at page 8 'my new project' in 'completed cars'. I'm sure he'd send you a close-up pic if you're interested. From memory, it didn't look out-of-place when I drove the car.... (but then again, I was so impressed with the brakes and handling that I didn't take much notice of the dash ) cheers, jack
