24  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Thermo fan switch on: October 01, 2013, 03:06:09 PM

Pedro, they go under the hose... need to fit them very carefully and gently. Can be a problem to seal after refitting hose and clamp(s).

Best to use a sealant around the capillary where it fits under the hose, and check carefully for leaks at full coolant pressure/temp...

I recently used Sikaflex; worked perfectly, but may cause issues when I have to remove the hose...

The Craig Davies switch has adjustable cut-in temp setting, and usually needs a bit of time/experimentation to get the right compromise between

coolant not getting too hot and fan cutting in when not necessary (some people think most thermo fans lose efficiency as they get more hours on

them; I tend to agree. Best not to have them running until they're needed - save fuel too  Smiley)

I've used these switches on my last 3 cars and had no real problems.

cheers, jack

Great reading - thanks Harv!

Re the 'racers math' - the theoretical 1/4 mile ETs generated from this seem very quick...

(16.2 for a 179 EH Huh My warm 202 powered EH couldn't do that!)

cheers, jack

Hey Pedro - the red and black ('isolated danger' Wink) dash is coming up real  Cool Cool Cool looks great!

(and a shift knob with the imbedded redback spider might be appropriate??)

cheers, jack

28  General / General Board / Re: Utes in a Paddock on: August 27, 2013, 06:55:40 PM

We went there on the trip home from the Orange Nats. Added almost 200 km to the trip but well worth it.

DEFINITELY worth a visit if you're anywhere 'within a bulls roar' of the area...

Highly recommended
29  General / General Board / Re: All Holden show day on: August 07, 2013, 10:45:42 AM

Thanks for the great pics  Smiley

(that bloke with the green FC ute must be colour-blind, though.... he's painted the engine red!!  even worse, he's stuck a whole heap of non-standard shiny bits on one side of the motor...  and tried to con us into thinking they're NASCO accessories...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Huh   fair go, mate - we all know FCs have grey motors, and that shiny thing doesn't look anything remotely like a grey motor air cleaner...)

Congratulations, Mark!! (you bloody 'SCW'  Wink)

30  General / General Board / Re: My new ride on: July 31, 2013, 09:49:09 AM
It was a bit wet today so Ill walk down the back paddock tomoz and scout around inside the ute for a badge, I know the one you mean but a pick to confirm would be good.

Ian, sorry for the hijack....   Roll Eyes

Deano; pic of '37 hopefully attached. The badge needed is the higher one on the centre of the grille (a close look at the pic will show part of the badge is broken off...)

cheers, jack

31  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Harv's Norman supercharger thread on: July 19, 2013, 08:51:34 AM

Another gem in the making!

Thanks Harv

(maybe you should consider a temporary name change to 'Norm'...  Wink)
32  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Exterior Sun Visor on: July 17, 2013, 09:22:29 AM
I have one in the garage, has no side brackets and is in pieces

bowling hats have side brackets??  Huh

33  For Sale and Wanted / Parts Wanted / Re: Exterior Sun Visor on: July 16, 2013, 03:08:31 PM
and some coat hooks in the back for his cardigan and hat. Cheesy

doubt he'll need the coat hooks - his white bowling club hat sits on the rear parcel shelf....

(right alongside the nodding dog with eyes that light up red when he applies the brakes  Smiley)
34  General / General Board / Re: My new ride on: July 16, 2013, 11:37:30 AM

Thanks guys glad you  like it and tolerate it on a Holden forum  Cheesy

Cheers

Ed

'Like it..."   nah; not really....

('like it' is just too big an understatement; I could 'tolerate' shitloads more info and pics...   )

(how about I try 'pretty-please, Ed; more pics n info'??)

cheers, jack

40  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Fuel gauge recalibration on: June 29, 2013, 04:35:06 PM
Not too keen on the idea of changing anything in the dash Mark did they look similar, (plus i didn't keep the Dunnydore one)
  Pedro

Pedro, I think Jack (fc-fer-me) used a commodore fuel gauge in the original FC housing...  have a look at page 8 'my new project' in 'completed cars'.

I'm sure he'd send you a close-up pic if you're interested. From memory, it didn't look out-of-place when I drove the car.... (but then again, I was so impressed with the brakes and handling that I didn't take much notice of the dash  Smiley)

cheers, jack
