(but the wheels, mate...  love interceptor/commodore rims, but how about painting them anything but GREY? - I'm surprised that Stinky hasn't had a crack at you over this! Satin black with chrome trims, bullet centres and bullet chrome nuts???)

Re the bolt covers - another alternative is plastic stick-on convex circular mirrors that are designed to stick on exterior mirrors to give a wide-angle view. Available in several different diameters (I think the ones I used were the smallest available; 60mm?) cost about $5 each at Autobarn or similar. Stick on with silicone/sikaflex. No polishing necessary, cheap, quick, easy...

More curiosity... and what profile were the 235s?

Three speed manual, 173 (original motor; stock except for VK electronic distributer) 103,000 original kilometres, excellent red ('cinnibar') interior, venetians, sunvisor, stock 6" HZ steel rims, new lowered Pedders springs and gas shockers front and rear, new top and bottom ball joints, CD player, some surface rust (patina!) but original paint - what you see is what you get; no hidden 'surprises'. Tailgate rusty on the inside; not bad outside. Has spent most of its life inland (Horsham, Vic.) On club reg; not transferrable. Can supply Vic roadworthy for the right price. Starts, stops, runs very well. Only driven every week to church by elderly old-fart owner... (well the 'church' bit may be debateable

At the risk of no pud for Chrissy a flame radiator cap sounds good to me Jack it would go with the red, black and silver theme well, I'll have to go and have a look at your post/page, where did you get yours from.

Wheels painted and front tyres changed for 195's as i was a bit concerned the 205's would scrape, I reckon i could squeeze 225's under the back when these need replacing, not sure whether to run dress rims or not any opinions on the subject.

Pedro, I think there's a sorta pic of it on my car thread somewhere- it's polished alloy, circular, with 'flames' cut into it.. check the pic; if you want it, it's yours - will cost ya one beer or rum next time we meet, plus another for the postage... 
(where the flames are cut in would be real easy to fill with red paint too...  but fitting this might compromise your pudding... then again; maybe not - you haven't got ghost flames under your bonnet; I think these were the reason for a certain persons strong objection to the flamey radiator cap... and as much as I'm loathe to admit it publicly, she's right - as usual  )

re the wheels; suggestion - keep the current centre caps or replace with polished alloy spun bullets  , paint the centre of the wheel satin black and the actual rim with 'aluminium' paint, no chrome trims necessary, or paint the whole wheel satin black and fit chrome trims, either normal or 'hotrod' style...    (but then again, my tastes might be a bit off/out there...  )

well, Pedro, a certain FE driver who we both know got right up me for having a 'flamey thing' (radiator cap) under the bonnet which she took exception to, and considered in very poor taste, so you had better get things just right under there if you're still planning on having yummy pudding this Christmas.....

Given that it's a stocky, I'm with Haydn (6 x 13 rims with 185/80-13 whitewalls or white bands and possibly chrome trim rings). I'm away from my own computer so can't be sure on the calculations, but I seem to remember that 185/80-13 will result in very slightly taller gearing than standard 640-13 (very slightly higher true road speed for same revs) and 205/60-13 will give about 8% less true speed for same revs compared to 185/80-13, which you may not want if a lot of your driving is at highway speeds. You could fix this by going to 3.36 or 3.55(?) if you really wanted the 205/60 tyres.

 Someone else may be able to check the gearing change percentages 205/60 vs 185/80; if not and you really want to know, let us know and I'll check tomorrow for you...

Great stuff, Pedro!     getting close now... 

X 2 what Fink said re offsets. 185/80-13 should be very close in rolling diameter to the original 640-13s, and would be OK on 6" rims.
If you wanted to, you could easily fit up to 205 section tyres to 6" rims, but depending on the ratio (60, 70, 80 etc) this will change your overall gearing, which you may or may not want... also, anything wider than 185 in 13"s could be very difficult to find.

Another alternative may be using HK/T/G 14" rims which are 5" stock (6" also should be available) and this will give you a much wider choice of tyre widths and ratios...

What engine and frontend/brakes and diff ratio are you running? Do you want whitewalls/bands? Answers to these questions will greatly influence what rims/tyres you select.

Great colour combo  so 'FC'...

Eg Jack will be happy to know that we have installed a 1957 Chev spare wheel well in the boot so the matching 15" whitewall will fit.
