Hi

Just read your thread.....great work.

Is that a series 1 or 2 V6 and is that a standard bracket to run the AC compressor there, or did you get it made up ?

Are your back wells tubbed at all for those wheels ?

Cheers

Glenn,
What a beautiful van your high standards have achieved.
The new carpet really sets of that magnificent paint colour, great choices.

No tubs, motor was in it when I purchased the car. Out of a VT commodore. Jb  may have some input here as he did the conversion

From memory, it was a second gen v6 out of a standard 98 VT commodore. Good motor with 55,000kms

The air cond bracket had to be made to suit as there wasn't room in the original position, and the coils were swapped from the front of the motor to mount near the gearbox for more room for the compressor. At the time nearly everyone said that A/C was impossible... But being a Cairns car it was essential.

The tubs are standard, with standard lips etc, dragway rims 16x8 I think and 225 tyres.

It was and still is a pretty good rig.

Cheers

Had a lot of people tell me the same about mine too (except JB that egged me on!) or said that I was just plane crazy for certain aspects of it, especially a full wire harness transplant from the VT (which gives me all the cruise, power windows, central lock ect) or that a V8 was impossible as people have only done the V6 stuff. Look how many of us are doing EFI V8's now....

Ps Glen, did you know all the engine plugs are identical to the 5L V8? And if Jb used the V6 conversions mounts the V8 mounts may line up perfectly as it did in mine!

Never say never, but I'm very happy with the performance as it is.

I just spent a couple of years up there running PK's at Cape Tribulation.

Returned to Sydney and towed my FC all the way back in December.
