Thanks for the comments guys, As for shows and mags the ute wont see many its not what I am about. When i did the panelvan it went to the Jindabyne nationals and that was it, no local shows or a photo for a mag, but always happy to show someone who asks and lift the bonnet. The ute will be no different. In saying that I just want to be able to get to another nationals as by the time Tassie comes about it will have been 10 years... Something always stops me from getting to them. What I have said before all of the photos on here are to show what goes into a modified car, and when its finished a rough bill on what its cost for others to consider when/if they decide to do what I have done. Hope they are still entertaining some. Can't wait to drive the wheels off it!!! Cheers JB

I understand your motives, but Shows and Mags get what serious work and mods can look and inspire the younger generations ( and all of us ) on ol skool- new skool can include 50/60's classic curves and chrome... not plastic
just a thought... but i understand it's not a show pony, it's your classic Australian Ute with Modern technology...either way great work

Right, one for the Guru's When the panels were fitted at the factory the seems looked a little like this yes? So my question is did they lead all of these gaps up or did some get left and painted like in the photos? Current thinking is just to seem seal and look like out of the factory... If that is how they came. Cheers JB

The van I'm currently working on has the horizontal seam that ends just before the dogleg, which leaves the horizontal seam abruptly .
Meaning your stepped seam would be leaded.
Doglegs I've worked on before are usually a leaded lapped joint which is comparably very crude to what you have achieved.
Im open to correction, as I know there are other variations between early FE's and later FE's and FCs with double wall dog legs etc.
Cheers

Yes I think the dog leg was leaded and the horizontal seam was left as is. You often see vans and utes with the horizontal seam disappearing into nothing.

No mate, I can't take credit for this work. They are cars in the workshop waiting to be done.

Hi Jase
What's the name of the build magazines you were buying from the states. Been trying to find somewhere to purchase them from but a bit hard when I don't know what they're called.
I've looked them up before, and remember the covers of the 1st four volumes, but can't pin point them again.
The utes coming along great. AYou're thread's always a great read.
Keep up the fantastic work.
