Ok, after I tried to fit the cable and found that it was too short I lucked in and they took it back as it was the end of the roll. Then after some sound advice I took it and the earth cable to Battery World to get the lugs done. They looked after me very well and were very well priced. Got it all home and installed, and did the cruise control loom. Doesn't look the neatest yet but will tidy up when the car gets painted. Managed to fix some cut cables on the thermo fans and also mount the fuses for them. Time consuming stuff all of these electrics but I can see the light... hmmm.... at the end of the tunnel.

Question, The headlight buckets that have been used previously as speaker boxes are 6" in Diametre, but he speakers that I am looking at(Focal KRX3 ) are 6 1/2" diametre. Is the there a difference between the model for the headlight bucket, or are they all 6" Diametre?? If so what would be the best way to extend to the 6 1/2" that I am looking for... hmmm open for lots of lines here...

As I was looking at your suggestion Fatboy, it dawned on me that looking at the woofer, it may not fit due to the size of the magnet hanging off the back... The headlight bucket may no be the option required here now... May have to find something else out of metal that will replicate the shape that I am after to weld in there.

Well it was out there!! Just looking at the Focal website the magnet is 120mm and has a mounting depth of 89 mm, speaker width is 165mm. I think the FC headlight buckets were not as pointed as the ones that i have... does anyone have 2 to compare and or want to part with?

Who would have thought that I would have been learning about cake tins on a car site... There is a cake tin called a dolly vardon, shaped similar to the fe headlight bucket. It is 195mm diameter at the top which will fit the speaker and the the ring required to mount it. The only problem is that they don't say of they are made from alloy or steel.

the choice is clear JB..
it's either the Dolly Parton style headlight buckets or the Dolly Vardon style Cake tins.
so what's it gonna be?
I would just fab up a round cylinder... easy as for you.
Cheers

Cut the back off the head light bucket, weld in a ring and weld the back on again.

You are right, I need to start with the new speaker rings first, and probably buy the speakers, but at $1100 for the 6 of them the funds are better spent at the moment, as I need the diff done and shocks, brakes etc for the rear... Bloody money always gets in the way of fun sometimes LOL.
Have been trying to get all of the jobs done that don't require spend at the moment, but they are starting to run out.
Cheers JB

Jason
Been watching you're project for some time now and you should be proud of yourself.
Anyway who needs music... the sound of a V8...the wind in your hair and communication with whoever is in the passanger seat is more than enough.
I don't even turn the wireless on in my V8 EH as I love the note.
regards
Julius

Hi Julius, I am sure that when I get it on the road the radio won't be on much as well But if the Nationals gods line up for me and I am able to drive it to Perth my co driver usually sleeps for most of the journeys that we do, so some tunes will be in order. I think I have it skun now anyway with the help of all of the guys here. Cheers JB
