Pedro - did you try a guard fit up before final welding of the sill profile?

The guard matched the door and the sill apart from the profile/bulge in the guard being a little low where it lined up with the sill, the guard has had a new bottom fitted though so I'm putting it down to that, I might have to cut it off and re weld it, with the amount of dodgy work the previous owner has done nothing would surprise me at the moment, you can see in the first photo someone has made their own inner sill and outer dog leg mount that doesn't line up properely either, I'm glad i did the sills though, would you believe the drivers side had rags in it as well as dirt.

Had a week off as i caught some bug that left me crook and totally unmotivated, back to it now though.

Haven't done any grinding yet as things rust overnight around here, will do it all when I've finished welding and I'm ready to start bogging which should only be a couple of days away now.

Good to see you've beaten the bug, Pedro.
Clearly, you've also survived all attempts by those ebay idiots trying to 'do your head in'!!  Wink

Yes I certainly recieved some rather strange queries this time, fortunately their e-bay names were rather obvious and i managed to weed out the ratbag element from the serious ones, made things more interesting though i was beginning to get sick of answering the same questions, you wouldn't have been involved in anything like that though would you Jack Huh Roll Eyes Cheesy Cheesy.

Headlight bucket prices are going to start soaring, the idea originally came from a guy on the FB/EK Forum and this is about the third car I have seen with the mod  Shocked
BTW, did you check for guard clearance before final welding  Wink

Geez, you are so lucky Pedro, using original fc parts for non original means. I live in the Kimberley W.A. and any fc part are a treasure here. (there are none here)Iam looking for a few parts for my fc and all my purchases ( even nuts and bolts ) have to travel a minimun of 2400km and that is from Perth. So if you have the scews or clips left over from those buckets or any other tiny pieces laying around I would be interested. Iam jealous of you guys I have been waiting  8 weeks for engine mounts, but hey I wont let get the better of me.Gary C
