Too late, already had my 15 mins. of fame a few years ago when i got to play the part of yellowbeard in a show at a friends wedding, "you won't catch me dyin, you'd have to kill me before i die" Grin, anyway Mezz went to bingo today so i had another "crack at it".





one more of these and a bit more welding and the front floor will be finished



made another one of these



All the rear floor is now cleaned up, welded and the welds primed.

G'day Pedro, Love the way you are going about it. Just a question on your new chassis rail you put in. Why did you take it so far over towards the sill? Looking at the photos, it looks as if it would have been a great fit if you went directly from the original rear spring hanger to the new front rail from the commodore.

Pedro,

Great work on the rebuild and keep the photos coming as slowly I ma trying to do a similar thing with a sedan.  Wanted a wagon, but could not find a good sample.  Anyways what is your method to rotisserise (Probably not even a word) the vehicle onto its side.  Is it sheer mexican muscle power, hoist and pully system, or jack?  Looking to flip mine over so start cleaning the undercarage.

Keep the pics coming.  They are a great help for a novice like me.

It's hard to see it in the pics but the rear floor hangs down too far, I had to do a bit of gentle panel beating with a big hammer Wink to get it as far away from the sill as i did, I was also thinking of muffler clearance, I'll put in a clearer pic next time i post some.

The first time i struggled with it on my own but the second time i got smarter and got a mate to help, It's not that heavy really, we both lifted it up then he balanced it while i went around and lowered it onto the old seat, just make sure you leave enough clearance on the other side, how are you planning on cleaning up the undercarriage.

When I built MR FC 6 of us turned the car right over and then supported it with 4" x 4" hardwood on painters trestles running through the car  Shocked not that heavy as a shell ......FC427......

floor finished



The spare wheel well was rusted out anyway so i thought i might as well use the commodore floor



Didn't discover some butcher had already been at it till i removed the tar.



Fitted quite well really



Just need to weld the interior



Not a bad way to do it, even has the fuel pump mount



Almost finished just have to fit the rear seat belt holders, anyone think of anything i've missed before i spray tar it.

Have you thought about your exhaust hangars?? Handbrakes cable mounts... and or a safety loop for the tailshaft.

Just stuff i have to do.

Hmm, VL guards now there's an idea Roll Eyes Wink, but seriously only dunnydore mechanicals, apart from the seats and console it will look all original. Cool Cool

Thanks, Something i hadn't thought of, I'd better check them, not sure if i need a tailshaft loop, unfortunately she's not going to have the power yours will, thought I'd use the original front mount but I'm not sure where the rear one will go as there's no room in the usual spot, might have to cross over next to the bump stop and through that way Huh .

Also when i said spray tar i meant spray underbody deadener.

Pedro if you plan to paint the undercarage don't use [TAR] proof coat use stone guard as it can be painted over  ........FC427........

VL, but the VT floor fevanv6 used seemed to fit a lot better, I am in the process of modifying the inner doglegs at the moment as they don't fit, will be putting up some more pics tomorrow so you will see what i mean.

Thanks ED. It's still one of those love hate things at the moment Smiley Angry, but i keep just taking one problem at a time, speaking of problems do i recall you saying you knew about doing the wiring with the computer setup, I'm planning on using the VL harness but stripping out all the unnecessary stuff like the air con, power steering etc., will that affect the computer.
