weird how it happened once i reached post 666 and not on any others, must have been hanging with too many evil people, speaking of i haven't seen that 4wd with nosferatu on the windscreen again yet.

Problem solved





Just need to hit it with the sanding disc and some primer, then finish the bits they connect to and this job is done.

To be honest Jason i have actually worked as a welder(would you believe for the f*** motor co) and as a maintenance man/mechanic over the years, it was good to get back to welding some decent thickness metal on that last job, I still wouldn't have attempted this if i hadn't seen you do it first though.

Plenty of crap in here too



One tacked into place, the sill around the bottom of the pillars was good so i took a bit of a shortcut and went around them, only had to patch a bit around the inner ends and coat everything with rust converter(with a built in primer).

Yeah had a quick trial fit when i got the first couple of tacks in place, It's a lot harder to stuff up this way as i just lined it up with the old sill which was in the right spot, I'm still going to give it one more trial fitting before i fully weld it though just to be sure.

 Paint stripper is slightly cheaper but a "Rip and Strip" disc is the way to go. Much less mess and safer than handling toxic chemicals, doesn't take any metal off. A 180mm disc for a 9" grinder is only about $20 each. 6 to 10 should do the whole car. A 100mm disc for a 4" grinder is about $14 but you would use 10 to 15 and a lot more time. Any Auto Paint supply shop would stock

G'day Taxi, welcome to the forum, I used paint stripper to take off all the thick paint then finished the job with a 180mm stripper disc on the buff/grinder, the roof on a wagon is such a big panel that it would be easy to get too much heat and distort it(thats why i didn't get it sandblasted with the rest), so i was taking my time and being very carefull not to try and tackle paint too thick with the disc.

Was just about to point out what you just said Pedro,be very carefull with the strip discs.They work extremely well but never concentrate on one area as the heat build up is immense and will easily distort a panel.I used these also but only after using paint stripper to get the majority of the paint off first.Your latest work is looking fantastic mate.  Shocked Cheers,Jamie.

Lucky i checked for fit this old repair is miles out, must have had it built up with bog



Sills finished, WOOHOO for some reason i hated that job, would rather have welded in another floor, anyway thats all the big jobs finished, just need to make the radiator fit and do all the rust repairs now, then it's time for some paint Smiley Smiley, can't wait to see that first bit of colour go on even if it's only in the engine bay.
