1  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: grinding spark removal on: May 31, 2005, 03:05:01 AM
What Ed say's is quite correct. They usually wash or pick the body out of the eye with a blade or needle and then drill the stain out. It is painless as they use drops which kill the pain.
It really is quite straight forward and is not as bad as it sounds.
2  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: grinding spark removal on: May 30, 2005, 11:01:27 PM
As part of my work on the minesite I am required to deal with injury treatment and foreign bodies in the eye are something that occur weekly.
If the body cannot be easily removed you must seek medical help immediately. Do not try to remove anything in the coloured part of the eye, leave that to the doctors.
Safety glasses do not provide enough protection on their own from grinding sparks and a face shield should be worn as well. The best shields are the ones that have a chin guard.
Hope you were able to have the offender removed without too much discomfort.

Cheers Murray

I was not fortunate enough to get to meet Trev although we did correspond via e-mail and the forum.
It was shock to read of his passing.
My deepest sympathy to his family.

I agree Trev, why reuse a head gasket if you dont have too? New ones are not that expensive.

8  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: welding.. stainless to mild steel (exhaust) on: June 07, 2004, 08:30:00 AM

I know with a stick welder you can weld mild steel with stainless rods but not the other way round. Not sure if  it's the same with a mig.

9  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Thread Sizes on: March 31, 2004, 08:42:13 AM
P&N (cutting tool makers) put out a really good chart that covers a wide variety of threads but I am not too sure where you could get one. Perhaps Blackwoods or one of the other engineering supliers.
10  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: FC's are really FB's on: March 20, 2004, 12:13:00 PM
It certainly pays to shop around. I just bought some brake hoses from my local rare spares agent at $32 ea.
Same hoses on the rare spares website are $57 ea.

He's dreaming maybe it should read $7.65.
12  Galleries / Members' FEs and FCs / Re: Murray's FC on: February 26, 2004, 11:17:57 AM
Thanks for posting the pics Norm.
My grandfather purchased the car new and kept it in showroom condition.
When he died it went downhill and I got it to save it going out of the family.
Interior is still great and it will be a fairly easy restoration. It has no rust and I even have the original number plates on my Hilux awaiting the day when they will go back on the FC.

13  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Master Cylinders on: February 11, 2004, 12:13:20 AM
Thanks Steve, That is all I needed to know. I knew about the threads but wasn't too sure about the internals. Thanks again.

14  Technical Board / General Technical / Master Cylinders on: February 08, 2004, 07:25:29 AM
I have two master cylinders with metal canisters which I wish to fit to my FC but they have been stripped and I am not sure if I have the correct internal parts. Can some tell me if the internals are the same as the later master cylinders.
Thanks. Murray

16  General / General Board / Re: Story To Share on: December 12, 2003, 11:38:08 PM

I think you are right, probably not a true story.
17  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Welders on: November 29, 2003, 12:04:26 PM
If you decide on the mig I can highly recommend the CIG Brumby 180
18  General / General Board / Station wagon value on: July 24, 2003, 11:58:17 AM
Can anyone help me with the value of a FC wagon.
It is in a panel shop at the moment All rust has been removed and it has had a large transmission tunnel fitted (Torana I believe). The car is complete but stripped down to a rolling shell. It has a red motor which I have not seen.
It also includes a new door/window seal kit.
The person wants $1000.

19  General / General Board / Re: Anonymous posting... on: May 06, 2003, 07:13:32 AM
How many times has a guest caused a problem on the site?
Do we really have to change things because of 1 person not game to put his/her name to a post?
Just my two bits worth.
20  Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Original tool kit on: April 08, 2003, 09:48:57 PM
Any chance of a picture  so that those of us looking for original tools will be able to identify them if/when we see them.
Thanks Murray.
