Here's my FE dash almost ready for paint, holes for gauges are done, just need to trial fit the small lights I am using for the indicators and warning lights.

The dash itself has only cost a carton of VB so far, although the weld cracked between the two RHS gauges when the jigsaw was going around.
What blew me over was the template I was using, I got it from the local Gauge specialist as a dual 2 1/16 gauge bracket. If you put the bracket over the "bumps" that house the choke, light switch etc they line up exactly!
So the spacings match quite well, had to cut some of the framework behind the dash though. The dash and glovebox will be mid-blue to match the material on the seats, the rest of the dash is the light blue that the car wore in it's previous build.

Thanks for all of the feedback fellas, it certainly helps keep the enthusiasm up. Also helps kill off any niggles about things being "not quite right".

Maaaaaate did you make another for me. It looks great and as zulu said is in keeping with original styling, I noted you even kept with MPH.

Just one question were are you mounting the Tacho.

JOKE ALERT!
Not really attracted to the Tacho, so I won't be mounting it anywhere  Cheesy LOL

But seriously, I am leaving that until the dash and steering column are in, so I can try out different positions. I was thinking of it on the column, but I have also seen one mounted on the dash that looked good.

The gauges are all Autometer (American) and there wasn't really a choice of kmh, but I would have stayed with mph even if there was.

I don't know about the ign. lights but the FJ speedo had the high beam indicater light at the top of the dial and with a couple of diodes in the wiring you can use this to flash for the indicaters as well. You don't need two lights as you know which way you're turning!
Maybe this can work with other similar speedos as well?

sgo,

You might as well stick with the FE speedo if you're going to do that, since it also has the hi-beam indicator integrated.

Mind you, once you pull one of those speedos out, it certainly looks like it would be easy enough to fit two more lights in there to use for the indicators.

just a thought...
cheers

Jaycar (http://www.jaycar.com.au) have some tiny (approx 5mm) 12V LEDs in a chrome bezel, that would fit almost anywhere. I have two green for indicators and some red ones for warning lights.
The indicator LED will sit between the smaller gauges on each side.
If that is of help to anyone.

There's a bigger bugger on the board, and they have been holding out on us! They sent me a pic of their custom dash and it blows mine out of the water.

I will let them reveal themselves though.

.. hee hee

this bird has been hard at work over the last few months,

with alot of pressure to finish the nest, perhaps even to present it as  unfinished due to other factors, this is one project i must see to the end.

The project shall be revealed in due course.

Thanks

Ed
