Hi, can anyone post pics showing how you've strengthened your rear shock mounts? Thanks.

Yes , coming back from SW Qld in1989 in my FE sedan with a car full of personal possessions I hit a huge wash-out [creek] across a back road and because I was running heavy duty double action shocks , pulled two large holes through my boot . My possessions were moved into the cab for the remainder of the trip , but as the car now had the shockies removed, the headlights now gave me only glimpses of the road and a really good look at the koala population . My older brother looked at the holes in the floor where the mounting panels had to be reattached and said that I should weld a piece of RHS all the way across between the subframes . I opted to just replace the torn floors with some heavier steel and reattach the remade panels completely welded ,not just spotted . I would be interested to see what other people have done . Haydn

Nasty, I had a rear shokie let go on my 1957 FE
similar to that only the spot welds gave up and the upper mount pulled away from the body

It was a while ago now but I think we drilled out the spot welds and plug welded it back on

Did the same to the other side while we were at it although it didn't let go

On our 1956 FE Business Sedan it's  a differnt set up, it has a panel running from side to side so I assume a little tuffer I have often wondered was this just peculiar to the very early girls or was it just on business sedans?

Thanks guys. I have replacement sections to go in, will look at how i can reinforce them.
