I love this car, mainly because if you go back to the start of this thread and have a look how it began many people would have said "that is too rusty"! I looked at it and said "I hope he persists with it because it can be fixed" and that is exactly what you have done. You're perseverance is admirable. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see it finished and see another old Holden saved... Cheers, Jamie.

I remember when Nick picked up the car when we sold it because I thought "that is too rusty"!
He has shown what I should have done !!

Well done Nick

Took the car for its first real drive, broke a new speedo cable, think the speedo locked up some how and the gearbox has a hole in the side of it, Just a little hole enough for the oil to leak out when it warms up.
Carby need work as at cruise is surges badly.
Put in one of those ebay electronic ignitions to replace the points, made a big difference.
Also cut 1 1/4 coils off the front springs.

Took the wife with me on the drive, She hates it, to noisy and jerky and said she's not coming with me if i have to take it on a long drive   Cry

Any idea what main metering jet is in it Nick? The 138 originally had a 0.051" main metering jet. Modern fuels (with oxygenates), the 0.030" overbore and the (lower vacuum) cam probably all add up to a higher fuel demand, and a slight lean-out (surge) at cruise. I was in a similar place with my FB, where swapping out to a 0.053” main metering jet solved the issue.

Cheers,
Harv

Hi Nick,
The Speedo problem is not uncommon. You will need to Lubricate the Speedo Head they tend to Cease up.
Cheers,
Graham
