Hand brake is in and working well after replacing the front cable and straightening the outer shroud that holds the hand brake leaver,it had spread apart and would not slide correctly

Did you have to install a folding steering wheel, heater fan ( de-mister ) seat belts like you mentioned (Are they all round ? )..HR front like you have are a few things ive heard needed to be done if the motor size is over a 186... ( or maybe not a need in your state ) where did you get the seat belt pillar bolts ?

for all your metal fabs, i gather you get your metal from your local steel shop ? is there a particular type metal you order or look for also is there a special formular you use to workout the gauge needed for each fabrication you make, or is it just experience over time has revealed what gauge is strong enough for each part's need Huh

gr8 work BLOK...
The handbrake system you have in your pics is been very helpful for my handbrake system, your's and Ken "THE GURU " HAVE HELPED ME SO MUCH IN UNDERSTANDING WHAT I HAVE AND NEED TO HAVE

SO THANKX TO YOU BOTH... BLOK and mcl1959...... both very inspiring and helpful at the same time   Shocked

cheers

OH ! P.S......        Do you have the machinery/workshop to bend up some of your Fabs or do you out source them ? IE: the rear handbrake brackets you made up look like they have a machine fold ?

thankx BLOK

Thankx BLOK,
so the Corona top pillar bolts fits straight into the FE pillar hole ( which mine has already been drilled out ..looks like a standard seat belt bolt hole from looking at other FE/FC cars ) ? i think i read somewhere that it's not a standard high tenstile bolt, it has an added shaft or something to allow the seat belt to swivel... is this right ? what top pillar bolt should i be looking for ??

thankx for taking the time to answer these questions, it's so helpfull to ask experienced restorers on here

cheers

mate there isn't any hole in the pillar ,you have to start from scratch and install your own  best to use the search and punch in seat belt and see what comes up ,there are a couple of ways of doing this modification I have to research it myself ,but I'm fairly sure there would be minimum sizes that would have to be followed when using backing plates and installing the pillar bolts ,someone else may be able to enlighten us a bit more on this subject

BLOK if it's any help for you,
My FE has had 12mm holes already drilled ( maybe to suit a 10mm bolt ) into the pillars to support the top point for the front seat belts... so clearly this FE had seat belts installed previously... i will have to check to see where i've seen the right type bolt..if i recall it's a 2 part nut and bolt, where the nut is like a barrel nut so when they bolt together both ends have a hex nut type finish but allows the seat belt to have enough play so it can move freely and not tighten up to a fixed point. where the internal has a machined finish to allow the seat belt hasp to swivel freely, opposed to a finished thread/bolt type

i hope this helps you...i think i might open a new thread in regards to the sourcing of the right top seat belt pillar bolt

let's see what comes our way

enjoy your project

Doing a bit of research on here regarding the seat belt installs, below is the link that has made things a little clearer and maybe will help you in your direction

http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,16691.0.html

i was sure this topic has had to come up many times before, i think i read on ebay somewhere some seller was selling seat beat bolts and was in the business for years doing installs, i haven't seen it for awhile now, might do some more reasearch regarding this, check my ended listings, but it was a fair while ago...see what comes our way from here and naturally research does open many doors as im sure you have found

see how we go
