Got to put a little more mig has through the welder... At about $20 per month it's hardly worth having the bottle when it's not getting used! Needed to make some radiator and condenser brackets so combined them. Will just need to adjust and weld the final tabs on when back in OZ. Dino has been busy polishing the stainless too... Any tips for getting a mirror finish?      |

If you want an ultra shine then finish with motorbike visor polish. But test an area first. This also works on CD scratches.

You need to get some polishing soap say brown or if theres no heavy scratches start with white. we use the new Pferd kits for variable speed grinder awesome cannot recomend them enough http://www.maxprod.com/products/PFD-48194.aspIf i had seen these before i sent mine away (6 friggin months ago) i would not of sent them away The old way was a coarse stitched mop with brown or grey soap then go a soft flannel mop with white fine soap. then a polish like autosol or purple. Let up know if you cant find a kit i will get one off my supplier. |

I used a cloth buff on a bench grinder and the green coloured stick cutting compound. I think the brand of the cutting compound was Josco but I am not at home at present to check.
According to the bloke who did my plating the secret is too put a lot of pressure on the work and get it as hot as possible and wear gloves. I only had a 6inch grinder for my buff and was limited a bit to the pressure I could apply but it still got quite warm. The end result was very acceptable. Tried Autosol first but not very effective on the stainless.

Thats why I like these new polishing kits you can put more pressure on it with the grinder .

Back to using Harko's 20min rule... managed to get a couple of hours on it over 2 days while visiting again. Got to fit the blinkers, replaced the sealer in the bonnet an then sealed up the quarter panels where the sandblasting had left gaps, and the subwoofer box. Then today after I got back to NZ the bonnet emblem came back from the electroplater. NOS centre looks pretty good in there too. Just have to wait for the rest of the bits to come back to complete the outside and start on the inside. More fuel in it and another spin down the street was a must!    |

I have decided to read your thread from the start. I have a few builds that my brain has cross threaded and I find it hard to keep track of what relates to what 😜. When you come home, what do you do first, have a sneaky peeky at the car or see the family 😆. It must be difficult looking from afar! My 12 year old reckons that colour is shit hot.

Was going to use the same window mob when you found them... $1200 for the whole ute was a pretty good price I thought too.
Thats one for next year though... trying to get the chrome all done by Feb, and then the wheels will be next on the menu!

Can they be bought new? As I have looked on the rarespares website and can not see them.
If not does anyone have a pair that they don't need.

JB, i know this mob http://www.classicandvintagebulbs.com/index.html here in Adelaide used to do complete Lucas lense and globe holder new as they were on many English cars worth a call or an email, as i cant find them on their web page, Rogers Motors is also another source i found by Google. cheers Scott |
