I always found that the best piece of glass and the best frame were on to different quarter windows. This sounds bad when I think about it now, but i just broke the glass in the good frame and cut the frame up on the good glass!!!!!!!
If you are using new glass then there is no problem, just smash the old glass and nothing will get bent.
The replacement rivets are hollow which is not like the originals, solid rivets need a lot of pressure to deform and were done in a press.
The easiest way to deform the replacement rivet is with a ball bearing and a good quality G clamp.  (and a helper)
The pressure can be increased gently and nothing should get damaged.

This is how i did mine JB, the rivets for the pivots i got off e-bay and thanks to a mate down the hardware we discovered bifurcated rivets fit just fine if you cut the split pin part off them and hammer them flat using  a punch, as for the glass and the frame i filled it full of black silastic clamped it together and then cleaned up with turps, they came up great.

Ralph Moore should have templates, he did a complete set of flat glass (excluding rear wagon section) for my wagon.

Finally saw it yesterday, looks nice and clean. Sides are straight, tubs came up nice, but the whole lot has to be gapped yet after rubbers etc eventually get done.
I get 1 single day to play on it on Monday so am going to move the diff back by 25mm. Should sit the wheels back into the wheel well nicer and then can get the tailshaft done. Will have a look at the quarter vent windows and take them back to NZ to play with.

First day in about 6 months I have had a chance to do some work on the ute.

Needed to move the diff rearwards...

Not much change after a days work, but happy with the results.

Definitely looks better, I ended up with two sets of the quarter window pivot rivets by mistake as i bought some and then discovered i got a set with my rubber kit, pm me your address and i'll send you a set down, the bifurcated rivets for the rest of the assembly you can get from most hardware stores, they worked well on mine and even have a shiny rounded head like the originals.

This might help get things moving a little.
Bleed the clutch and brakes... Bit more wiring and it may go down the street soon. But Dino is going to wait until I am there first... Maybe

Brake and clutch issues...

So I get a message from my brother today saying that he can't get pressure to the rear calipers and the clutch also won't bleed properly.

The master cylinders have been on and off the car getting trial fitted etc and then off again over the last 5 years, so wondering if the seal could have dried out... Not really sure. When we did the van they came up straight away.

Any thoughts from the brake guys out there?

Try using a vac bleed or a air one that fills from the brake up.


Make sure nipples are clear I guess
