If it works that's the main part Pete Wink, are there any other options, I don't recall anybody else doing this stuff with the v6 conversions, I'm really starting to wish I'd just dropped a 186 and trimatic in, I reckon I'd be nearly finished by now.

You send me a original speedo and you can have mine ill post it up?
The last week i was driving the needle floats a bit does not sit write down on the zero but you can have it in exchange as my spare went in a mates T model pickup.
I am running powerglide behind my RB engine now with a dellow bell housing $330 bucks

Mate these are the little things that try us... whether its bell housing's, electrics, lining panels up, rust etc there is always something that gives us the shits...

On the van it was the extractors for me, can't remember how many goes I had at getting the drivers side done, but remember it took about 3 months to finish, was very painful!! So this is yours. But in the end you will nut it out and it wont beat you and you will have the car the way you want it...

Thats right keep going my biggest problem was getting steering past engine mount with the vl conversion.


And now the Damm second turbo hits the bloody Y frame on the 26 so lucky i have a water jet to cut new exhaust flanges.

Yeah I know thanks Jason, I'll get there, once I get the mechanicals sorted the rest is meant to bolt together so it should go a bit quicker (hopefully Wink).

I only have two spare speedos Pete one is EK and the other is the same as an FC one but goes up to 120mph. It's got a sticker of some sort on the glass though, you're welcome to them if you want.
Did you attach the c'dore speedo to your old one because of the cable or the wiring?, from what I can see on the wiring diagram in the manual only the cruise control wire goes to the speedo, nice neat looking engine mount the cutout looks like it was meant to be there, they are a bit higher than mine though when you v'd them did you take a peice out rather than add one like I did.

I attached speedo for the wiring thing
We have an instrumentation mob down here that can crimp a new end or re make speedo cables but i initally did it cos the wiring i was told engine would not rev if it was not attached?

Ill see if old mate down here at singletons got a speedo if not ill take you up on that offer.

I have been inspired  by everyones projects so i came home earlly from work today and gutted the FC out
drew up all my new 4 link brackets MK3 this time ordered new coil overs.
Am locking myself in the shed all weekend.
Will start a thread soon.

Front end stripped back to bare metal outrigger welded on and painted.



I ended up extending the two big positive wires with fuses up to the dash for the main power supply to the ignition and light switches for the FC part wiring harness as well as the solenoid wire for the starter so the underbonnet part of the wiring is finished, also had a win with the bottom radiator hose, it fits Shocked Shocked.



Check this one out for luck, the commodore cable not only fits the FC speedo but the clip that holds it on to the commodore speedo fits into the thread and holds it on Grin Grin

wow that looks really neat, have had a good look at this build. coming together really nicely man. i will have to find a sway bar that fits a bit better and try something similar. thanks

Thanks again guys, a bit of feedback always helps with the motivation, after watching American Graffiti last night I'm feeling really keen today, first time my son has seen it, only trouble is now he's caught the bug and is asking how old he has to be before I hand the car over to him Roll Eyes.

Silly mistake no. Huh actually I've lost count Roll Eyes, when you modify a sump and baffle plate make sure you put in a hole in it for the dipstick, just finished putting it back together again after rectifying the problem.



Had a bit of time off the wagon as I gave up smoking and have been feeling shitty and unmotivated, starting to feel better than I have in a long time now though so expect major progress in the next couple of months.
