|
on: March 21, 2017, 02:53:46 PM
|
Hi Folks Update... on Accommodation... you need to book your accommodation before 31st March 2017 as the Alivio Tourist Park is taking public bookings after that date. The National Folk Festival normally books the whole Park, which means you may miss out getting accommodation at Headquarters. Headquarters and accommodation will be at:Alivio Tourist Park Kunzea Street O'Connor ACT 2602 Phone: 02 62475466 Email: reservations@aliviogroup.com.auWeb: http://www.aliviogroup.com.auAlivio have enough accommodation for all of us but it is VERY IMPORTANT that when you book you tell them you are with the FE-FC Holden Nationals - otherwise you will be told they are booked out. It is also important that you book before the 31st March 2017 otherwise you may not get in. They have luxury villas, cabins, motel rooms, caravan sites available. There is an on-site café and bar, camp kitchen, laundry, shop, barbecues, swimming pool, playground etc and plenty of parking for your vehicles and trailers. More information on the Canberra Nationals will be posted on here and on Facebook as it comes to hand. Any questions call me (Julius) or PM me and I will call you back. See you in Canberra in 2018

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Leaks in FE
|
on: April 23, 2012, 09:40:08 AM

Hi
The other spot the water could be coming from is the holes that locate your bonnet lacing and also their is a body join up their' have a look up their and if you may see light coming through the join the sealer may be cracked. my suggestion is to check and reseal these areas if it not your drain tube. I would and have check this area anyway.
Is your cowl vent rubber seal perished or not sealing as the water may let water leak over the top of it.
Kind regards
Julius

Jason
Been watching you're project for some time now and you should be proud of yourself.
Anyway who needs music... the sound of a V8...the wind in your hair and communication with whoever is in the passanger seat is more than enough.
I don't even turn the wireless on in my V8 EH as I love the note.

Julius

Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Broken bonnet release cable
|
on: May 27, 2010, 08:34:12 AM

Hi
I had to do the same thing on my FE and John rap's FC at the 97 Nationals
tools
I skinny strong screwdriver.
1 thicker screwdriver
2 small pieces of vinyl. not to small
How to
place vinyl over the business end of the screw driver.
push screwdriver between bonnet and bonnet catch panel and prize bonnet up ( vinyl is use so as not to scratch either panel)
If you look up towards the striker plate their is a kind of a hole that you can get the skinny screwdriver in, that gap leads to where your release is and with a bit of fishing around you will find the right spot to push on with the screwdriver, it will be tight but you will get it.
Give me a call if you want more info on 0407486759
Kind regards
Julius

Technical Board / Restoration Help / Re: Fe Ute floor pan
|
on: May 25, 2010, 03:07:27 PM

Hi
Rare's floor pans will fit with some adjustment into your ute. What I did years ago when I built an EH Ute that had the whole floor rusted out and the only thing I didnt cut out was where the shocks went the rest went.
To do the job I removed the whole floor out of an EJ Sedan and welded it in, not a nice job to do but it look great when finished.
Best of luck.

General / General Board / Re: FC Budget
|

Hi
Budgets well that is something sometimes you don't want to know the outcome. Take Effie for instance total ground up rebuild 13 years ago cost $30.000.00, and thats for a stocker so I figure with inflation I could not get a paint shop to do panel and paint for that.
On the other hand I have been building a modified for over 20 years and to date it owes me $80.000.00 and I would imagine I have another $40.000.00 to spend. It is close to completion. Not that I care much as at the end of the day its what I want.
Your build will only cost as much as your prepared to spend and that depends on the quality level the build will be and how talented you are in the hands on stuff. Bear in mind that the money I have invested in my 2 cars are not all to tradesmen expenses, as I do most of the work myself, and still I have managed to spend that much.
Don't ponder on budgets, build what you want and generally time is irrelevant, nothing should be a rush its finished when its finished and if you compromise you will be dissatisfied with the result. Sometimes close enough is not good enough. It will cost more anyway as you have to fix it and thats time and money.
Regards
Julius

Hi Guys
Nicola and I would love to thank you all for a jam packed Easter,
I don't think their are enough days over the break to be able to chat to all and see what was their.
These Nationals were phenomenal so many fantastic examples to look at and admire. Nationals by Nationals the standards are rising and so are the venues.... Great to see.
Loved the impromptu picnic day it was great to do something extra special on the Friday.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
Thanks again.
Regards
Nicola and Julius

Hi
Just read your post and yes it is admirable that you want to do it all yourself. however if you go down the road of removing all the crud yourself and yes its going to be great therapy, but its going to take you weeks.
Doing the roof and panels by hand make beating easier down the track and no chance of damage.
I would only have the floor, firewall, sills and cargo area inside and out blasted as they are the hardest to clean. and by blasting your going to find rust where you never thought possible. Thus making the end product better.
The first job is rust and by going this way your weeks or months ahead on your build you will also save money and time, let alone the mess your going to make.
also sounds you have limited time to work on it as you commute.
Kind regards
Julius
