I'm amazed a supercharger can have full rego and I can't have a 304 on full rego in Victorian nanny state

Gday NES304, I'm running a 4/71 383 sbc in my ute, on full reg. It was engineered back in the '80's with a 400 sbc, when rules were a little more lenient.
It's been fully registered since, even during the 2x 2 year rebuilds since I've owned her. It's been blown since 2009, and I've never had a problem with the boys in blue, apart from the occasional stop for a look.
I guess we run the gauntlet doing these mods once the car is registered, but if things turn sideways, I'll cop it on the chin.

Cheers Brett

I'm now selling the old girl I purchased back in January. Has factory engine, box and diff. LPG system, electric wipers, and cd player. 95% rust free, only rust I can find is in the subframe where the stabiliser bar bolts up. I do have a replacement panel that goes with the floor, as well as 2 front floor pans I was going to replace. Carpet has been removed to check the floor for rust, already been repaired prior. Does need some work, there has been a repair to the main floor support running from sill to sill, but this was done poorly and will need rectifying, new windscreen, kingpins need a kit put through them, and the gas system would need to be fitted to regulations. Running and drive-able, no reg or RWC, located in Melbourne's northern suburbs. 8,500 ono Brett 0402 517 635

G'day mate, reading this rebuild with great interest. Coming along nicely mate. I read your comment about the rear mounted rack and the lack of oil volume. A mate actually manufactured a sump for me that allowed us to run the rear mounted rack through the sump. Works extremely well on a blown sbc.

Thanks Graeme, PM sent.
Thanks for the info Seb.
Thanks for the offer Deano, but the trim was red, just not sure of the code, as the ute is in a workshop atm.

Thanks guys

G'day folks, I'm in the middle of re painting and re trimming my ute. I'm giving serious consideration in taking it back to its original Ascot Grey (1957), code 7773, and getting away from the blue non original colour it has been for the last 26 years.
Would anybody have pics of a factory coloured ute in Ascot Grey that I can use as a guide as to the original colour?

Thanks in advance

Brett

Cheers Ken, great detective work. Yes the colour is Biscay Green over Shannon Green, unfortunately it's been re trimmed, but not in factory colours.
Thank you very much for that Ken, I greatly appreciate it
Cheers

Thanks Ken, it got the better of me, lol. It was positioned on the passenger side, near the battery. The only numerals I can make out is 7253231.
The previous owner got back to me saying the same as above, and that the engine is the one it left the factory with. Would these numbers, the engine and the chassis numbers, make sense to you Ken?
Cheers for the insight mate, I'll get on to Vic Roads tomorrow and try and suss out a little bit more info.

Cheers

G'day guys, just after a bit on info on a car I have recently purchased. From the numbers I have found on here, it seems this FE sedan may have been out of rego for quite a while, as it was not listed on the Vic Roads system when the wife purchased an Unregistered Vehicle Permit earlier today.
Numbers on the ID tag are:

Vin          FE/225-5197M
Trim No    226-470
Paint No   253-7475
Top No     253-7446, and
Engine No L365322

I bought it as a club registered car. This is going to be my new daily driver. On consulting with the previous owner, I found out It was a 1957 model, was a Barn find, although it has been repainted in original colours, and re trimmed, but not in original colours though.
Am I right to assume it has been unregistered for a while, hence no record of it on the Vic Roads system?
Or is there another reason? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I'm waiting to hear back from the previous owner as to where the vehicle was purchased.
Thanks in advance

Brett

G'day fcv85l, yeah ute's stripped ready for the painters. should be there soon, just a few minor things to sort out. I recently upgraded the fuel system in the ute, went A1000 fuel injected pump, along with a 4 port reg. I'm now running a -10 return line as well as a -10 fuel line. We used the Red flexible fuel hose with Proflow fittings. We used a pump fuel compatible spray to slip the hose over the barbs on the fittings. So much for compatibility, all connections leaked, and we used band clamps too boot. Removed hose from fittings, dried out the hose and replaced, no leaks. But we also fitted a LPG cut off switch, as suggested by Harv, mate, it's a cheap investment, and very cheap.

All the best on the rebuild mate

Sorry to hear of your misfortune mate, I'm glad it's still repairable. Thank you for the heads up, nobody needs these things to happen while we're enjoying our rides.

Cheers and good luck with the rebuild

18  Technical Board / Modification Help / Re: Mini tubs vs rear rail modification?? on: August 22, 2014, 09:56:42 PM
unpick the rails and move them inboard, cut the edge off your tub then fit another set cut on the outboard edge, presto factory look and 305s

Thats what I have done, only now, 305 in 15" are no longer manufactured. You have to go taller rim size

Try Bell springs, 373 Settlement Rd, Thomastown, (03) 9464 6611, grabbed a pair a while ago, same core thickness and length, the only difference are the eyelets are the same way, where as the originals are opposite, and cost around $5 each
