What's the Diff.

Could someone tell me how to identify the Diff size & the rear running gear set up?
I'm not as smart as your average Bear.

Presuming it's an early Holden style diff, the ratio is engraved on the edge of the crown wheel, as well as a part number.  If you cannot find a number, it's a 3.89 diff.  Why? Until Holden introduced a different ratio diff in '62 there was no need to put any identifying marks on them, they were all the same

from a quick glance under the car you can identify a high from  a low ratio by the length of the bottom bolts too.  The 2.78 and 3.08 have two longer bolts than the 3.36, 3.55 and 3.89.

Thanks for the reply,
I had a look at the diff and it has M I 3 9 stamped on it, on the top between bolts .
Can you tell what diff it is ?
I also measured over the brake drums approx. 1435 mm.
