G'day all, This is the heater that was in the boot when i purchased my car, how do i mount it to the firewall, what type of hoses? do i need to hook it up to the demister vents and what type of switches do i need to turn it on and off ?  Cheers Rusty |

Rusty, the 2 captive nuts have a piece of "all thread" about 60 mm long threaded into them.
Holes are drilled in the firewall to match the all thread and to accomodate the hoses, then nuts are threaded onto the threads to hold the heater in place.
The switch is a 2 pole rheostat type with positive on one side and heater on the other, heater itself provides the earth to complete the circuit.
I guess you knew that your heater is missing the doors as well.

Thamks for the info Ken, but as i don't know much about fc's YET ( i am learning fast) my heater is missing "doors" what doors? .

I think Ken means 2 flaps or doors on the bottom of the Heater (second pic) ..I might be wrong but I think they were meant so you can shut off flow to the floor and force it out of a duct towards the screen for demisting.

On the front of the heater you can see 2 clips which look like they don't do anything. These originally held on the doors.
As xalx says they direct heat either outwards onto your feet or upwards onto the screen through the ducts to the demister vents.

OK Ken next question , where do i get the "doors" from and what do i use for the demister ductsthet direct the warm air to the demister vents?
(do you have any?)

Rusty, unfortunately you will have to get doors from another donor heater, will keep a look out.
Re the ducts - r u good with fiberglass or metal fabrication? The outlets you have on the heater must be transformed to a circular shape to go into the demister pipes. You are welcome to look at the ones I have made on my heater if you like.
