As I have read in wonderment of everyone's build in this great FE FC community, I guess it's now time to give back, and start the sharing of my journey. While I have no hard core fabrication/mechanical pics to share yet, in the interest of a picture tells a thousand words, I've attached the following to show the trip so far. Plenty of ideas floating around in the old noggin, but what actually eventuates time will only tell. My first port of call with be the engineer to get approval in principal before any major changes are commenced. Won't be the fastest build but slow progress is still progress. Cheers Marc

Welcome aboard Marc, it's always good to have a shed to do all the hard stuff. Are you still thinking of the rendering that was done in Street Machine a few years ago? or something different. Looking forward to progress shots as you go, good luck. Jim

Thanks Jim,
Yes, hopefully now I have the room to work on her, progress will start. I think some aspects of the rendering will be considered, but not sure how far I'll go down the road with the concept. I'm hoping to find that happy medium.
Cheers Marc

That's a great start Marc. You've obviously decided it's time for some serious work on the van. Looking forward to seeing your plans & following progress.

Bit of dust from the 2 years.... First task, complete re-wire and fix up any rust that appears during the clean up, without going looking for it.

Hi Marc, good to see you have finally started, looks like a good solid base. A word of caution though, you might want to look for any signs of rust in the usual places as it’s far better to fix it now than have to redo it later on. A couple of guys have done the quick fix now but have had to redo the car 5-10 years down the track. I know I’ be pissed off after spending all the time and effort to get the car back on the road and then have to go around again. Jim

Hi Marc; With regards your wiring I just purchased a new wiring harness from Vintage Wiring in Victoria for my EK Ute project; if your harness is a bit messed up might be the way to go, good people to deal with but an 8 week wait.

Thanks Neil, I purchased all the correct gauge & coloured wires a while back, so am just going to use that up since I've got them. It's mainly come about because I put in a battery that had reversed polarity [don't ask] and smoked the main feeder from the ignition to the alt, which took a few other wires with it. Plus it's a birds nest and needs some cleaning up anyway

If I can get the Engineer to agree to my interpretation of the rules around engine swaps, then a LS1. If not, then maybe something smaller, but boosted. Either way, win win

I've come to the conclusion that the thing hindering the most with my progress, is the constant disorganisation of the environment in which I'm trying to work in! Too this end, my immediate goal is to clean up and finish of some small updates to the shed, so I can continue with the project in a more sensible and structured space. First thing is to organise the tools strewn all over the place. I managed to start the pegboard and am hoping to de-clutter over the long weekend. and it hasn't even really touched the shite I have to sort through yet

Good luck. I start tidying up when I can’t find a tool or part I need. When the missing component is located I stop tidying and continue working, repeat.....
