alot of smoke out of exhaust

i have 1959 fc and i found that there is alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust , so much it looks like fog, it looks grey or slighly blue, i changed the modulator but im not sure if the one i put in is also faulty. Can anyone help with this one?

Modulator? Do you mean PCV valve? If so, FC's aren't fitted with one, they are usually fitted after market. All greys have natural breathing thru the walking stick. I'm assuming you have a grey motor? You may have another more major issue.

Bluish smoke is a sure sign of burning oil which comes from only one of two places.
The first is past the valves, the other is past the rings. Get a wet and dry compression test done and this will tell you where the problem is.

Bluish smoke that stinks could be oil - rings, valve guides or a PCV that is getting overfed (e.g. lack of baffling... assuming this thing has a PCV in the first place).
Whitish smoke that stinks could be transmission fluid (assuming this thing has an auto gearbox with a vacuum modulator).
Whitish smoke that doesn't stink and condenses could be a badly blown head gasket.

Ken right - start with a wet and dry compression check.
