 :)Thinking of fitting l.h torana discs to my standard f.c front end with the aid of a bracket kit ,would my existing vh 24 booster be suitable to use with this set up ,like to retain the v.h 24 if possible ,comments please Smiley ,Steve

Not really - The VH 24 is a drum brake booster - it doesn't put out enough grunt for discs

Well, you could always leave the booster there for looks if you like it - its your car.

My FC has the VH24 booster with LH front discs on HR ball joint front crossmember, and HR rear brakes with 9/16 cylinders. (important)
The brakes are excellent. The VH24 was the standard booster on  the HR with disc brakes.

Glen, that's not quite correct.

As Ken has said the VH24 was a drum brake booster & these ceased production around 1963/64. The similarly-sized VH44 replaced it but this was still a drum brake booster. HD & 1966 HR disc braked cars from the factory used a Girling 5/8 booster & this was superseded in early 1967 by the VH40 booster. The VH40 looks similar to the VH44 but has a larger diameter 'diaphragm' section. The old VH24 had an all-alloy construction.

The VH40 is the booster of choice for old Holdens with disc brakes & a single hydraulic system.

My apologies for that, I was trying to pull figures out of my head from 30 years ago when I bought mine as a stock item from a holden dealer.
