Thanks Jim,
It looks that way but will be at least another 12 months as I leave for NZ on the 6th of Jan. I will be there for work for 3 years.
The plans are for the fabricator to still finish it, he has some guards, bonnet and some dash work for me to do, then Jarred the painter will do his bit.
My brother will then take the car back to his place and store it for me. Store/finish it that is, so will get the chrome done and then the interior, put the glass and rubbers in, and any line that needs fluid will have to be made as well. Also a tailshaft made, then he most likely gets to drive it first too.
I am hoping everyone will see it in Tassie... but I have said this before about other nationals and didn't get even close with some sort of problem or another.
Will see what happens, but the progress photos will still happen when I get them.
Cheers JB

Good work JB, I like the dash extension, gives you more room to fit stuff. Will it flow onto the doors?
One question that's been on my mind though, is there any drama with the exhaust location? I'm aware it can exit after the last door, as I'm existing mine before the rear wheel as well, but I thought it could only be on the drivers side?
Anyway, keep the updates coming. I'll be starting a full rebuild on the van soon, can't wait to progress it on this insightful forum.
Cheers

The extension to the dash does give plenty more room, and will flow into the lines of the doors, I will be able to place the light switches, hazard and the mode switch easily in the glovebox and have some room for a small glove box as well.
The exhaust on the passenger side is up for debate but I won't be taken chances with rego with it there... I have dump pipes that exit in front of the diff and the tip will sit there as a dummy. After rego it will then go back to working as I like the sound better out the side... And for some strange reason it ran better... No backfire when backing off the throttle. Maybe the computer has caught up a little, I don't know.
Was happy with the guards, there is no fill at all on them yet and are straight.
Cheers JB

So the dash is out, air cond mounted, switches mounted in the old ash tray, commuter mounted on the firewall. Should have an instrument cluster surround done on Monday Going to be a busy couple of weeks apparently so hopefully some more photos to come.

Sorry mate, just re read what I wrote... Reads like I am doing the work... Not true... I am back to the land of the long white cloud tomorrow again. Cory from CJ Fabrications is toiling while I am OS. My idea to move the dash... His magic to make it look right!

JB, what hinge setup will you use for the leading edge of the hard cover?
(I've seen a very neat and successful setup on an FJ ute using bonnet hinges (from an HQ, I think...)
cheers, jack
