how long does it take to make these scratch plates-I reckon I could have hand filed a set from a billot by now!
2  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: How can I check the engine Temperature sender on: December 14, 2009, 11:21:05 AM
A rough way of checking it out is to take it out and hang it in a tin of boiling water and using a multimeter or continuity tester across the terminal and body of the switch--you should have a circuit.

3  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: Engine noise on: December 14, 2009, 06:41:48 AM
I believe the crank and cam were re-ground and new gudgeons fitted --The guy who recon'd the engine normally rebuilds Chev race engines and is fairly experienced and fussy with his work, figured the build would be ok.Had heard of strange noises from the metal timing gears before.Dissy has been o/hauled.Double checked the timing and appears correct.Have noticed when engine is cold the noise is less obvious.

4  Technical Board / General Technical / Re: fc steering knuckle and support dimensions on: December 14, 2009, 06:26:07 AM
Have set up the crossmember as per workshop manual and torqued the bolts up,I have checked the knuckle support against another FC that drives well and the king pin to support relationship appears the same?

5  Technical Board / General Technical / Engine noise on: December 13, 2009, 07:14:55 AM
Have had one of my FC's engine fully reco'd and since the reco a slight 'chucle' noise can be heard while driving at a particular point in the rev range.Sounded like tappet rattle at first but after changing rocker shafts and arms and pushrods and checking bucket wear the noise is still there! During the reco it did have a metal timing gear installed--could that cause the noise?

6  Technical Board / General Technical / fc steering knuckle and support dimensions on: December 13, 2009, 07:05:41 AM
Hi! I am having some trouble with too much pos. caster on my wheel alignment*can't be adjusted within tolerance**Have re-rubbered the crossmember and checked the steering supports are on the correct side. Car wanders and is thrown off line by 'pot holes'-Every thing else in the front end appears tight.--Thinking maybe 'bent' steering knuckle/support.
