I'm about to paint my 2-piece sun visor, but want some advice  about the colour scheme.

The car is Skyline blue with Fountain blue insert.

The top of the sun visor will be Skyline, but what is the underside usually painted?  Is is matt black? charcoal?  I'm thinking maybe doing the underside fountain blue with some flattener in it so it doesn't reflect.

What have other people done?

Advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

The underside should be a matt or satin black not body color or otherwise! i prefer a satin black it looks better.
Good luck

Brett,

My FE sunvisor, still has its original paint underneath and its matt green, my firts EJ sunvisor was also green underneath.

The visor is off the car at present (it blew off  Sad) I can photograph it if required.

My Car is Blue but the underside of the visor like Johns has always been a light matt green.

There were 2 colours for under the visor, matt black and matt green.  I have seen both in NOS condition and fitted on cars.  It doesn't seem to matter what the exterior colour of the car was as to what the underneath colour was.  Maybe possible that one was FE and the other FC but unable to confirm.

Many thanks, fellas.

Looks like it will be matt black.  That's an odd colour on yours, Brad.

Thanks again.

Obviously a different model but the visor on my unrestored 1960 FB is the same as Brad's on the underside - a "battleship-grey" colour.

 Embarrassed

During restoration I took The sun visor off my FE wagon and it too had two (2) colours. The top was (is to be again) Elk Blue and the underside was Red.

I have a Nasco Newsletter somewhere that says that both Black and Green are correct for the underside of the sunvisor, as Ken has already said.

I've not been on the forum for a couple of weeks, hence the delay in replying.

Thanks, all, for your replies.  Matt black appeals more than the traditional green.  The colour on Brad's is interesting and makes me lean towards putting matt Fountain Blue underneath.  I'm going for appearance more than authenticity.

It's more a  Matt Green with a tinge of Blue and not a Battle ship Grey as Hayden suggests, unfortunately the pic doesn't really show the true colour.
