HJ ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTO FC

HI! IV GOT A ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CABLE FROM A HJ V8 KINGSWOOD AND CURRENTLY TRING TO FIT IT TO MY FC WITH A RED MOTOR WITH A 2 BARREL STROMBERG AND JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD GIVE ME SOME TIPS TO HELP THANKS IF ANYONE CAN HELP.

Mike,

if it is similar to HX then it will fit with some modifications.

alterations to the height of the pedal to auto detent switch and
to the length of the arm to pedal.

just cut it up and weld it back until you get th best fit.

Yeh hj and hx are both the same where about do u position it for the cable to come through the fire wall u wouldnt have any pictures to send by any chance.

There are as many positions as there are custom accelerator setups. I had pictures of some commodore setups, but they didn't really suit my purposes. In the end I used a hybrid torana/commodore setup with the cable coming through the firewall just below and to the right of the brake pushrod.

hi Mike,

I have positioned the cable to come thru the panel a few inches down from where the floor meets the vertical firewall.

this required some cutting and welding of the upper arm.

will see if i can get some pics happening.

Hey Mike.
I have the same set up and have done exactly what Ed has said. To get the correct length, I cut through the arm, placed the pedal half in position where I wanted it and then placed the other half beside the arm and measured how long it needed to be to come through floor just below firewall. Mark how much needs to come off, then cut and weld.

 l hope this isnt too far off track, but way back when i put triples in my FC a old holden guru told me to use a Datsun 180b or 120y (cant remember now- it was 12 years ago!)acc. pedal. It bolts in with 3 bolts or screws & all it needed was bending of the top half to follow the shape of the firewall/floor pan.I used the HX acc. cable which fits in the top of the pedal(the 6 cylinder one proved to be better for me-not as long).It comes through the firewall just above floor/firewall seam. Hope this is of some help.  daz
