I have just been given a N.O.S. wheel cap for my f.c. ,it appears to be stainless steel ,does anyone know if these were fitted to particular models or were they replacment items ?  thanks  Steve . Smiley

Steve...I'm no guru on the subject, but I believe that FE's were Stainless and FC's were chromed steel..or vica versa.

Either way, I'm sure  what the FE and FC were the same design but different in their material.

But I could be wrong.

Mark, you were right the first time.  FE ones are made of stainless - a lot lighter, don't rust but dent easily.  The FC ones are chromed steel.

Thanks for that info ,would be cheaper to knock the dents out and polish than to rechrome !  Steve . Wink

Not only that Steve...but if your cap is Stainless, you can't rechrome it anyway....won't stick !

Polishing is your only option, but done well, will look as good as chrome !
