Thanks Les......and I WAS having a good day !

Geez....you hate to see such cars wasted like that, but at the same time.....I find something quite.....right.....with old cars rusting away.

At least these 2 cars have nice surrounds to live out their retirement in.

Wouldn't you just love to know how many FE/FC's are in a similar place.

Ken may have some idea...given there were over 200000 odd cars made, and there is maybe around 1000 left alive, meaning there must be almost 200000 odd FE/FC's rusting away in paddocks, farms, rivers and so on !

I'd just love to know how many and where !

Great pics

THanks for sharing

Yes Mark!!!!
I like a lot of us would love to know how many FEs & FCs are left.
One thing for sure there will be well over 100 of them together soon at Phillip Island.
Wonder how many more will surface in the next 10 years.       Only time will tell....
Yes I hate seeing such sights myself but  like a lot of others I need parts to keep our FC going and as sad as it may be  wrecks like this help.
This Easter we will be filled with Pride celebrating 50 years of the FE.

Good point FC Driver.

I'm weird like that....numbers amaze me ( I should get out more huh ? )....but when you stop and think:

I have ( for example ) about 6 sets of Head light rims and only 1 FC, which means 5 FC's out there are minus there head light rims.

And in a strange way........if for arguments sake there were 1000 FC's on the road 5 years ago, chances are that there are now 1050 on the road, as guys like you and me and half the members on this forum, find old de-licensed wrecks, and restore them back to former glory.

So as funny as it sounds, chances are that another 10 years from now as you say, there could be even more FC's on the road than today.

It's like that also with Mini Cooper S's  ( I used to have a Cooper ).....but the thing with those cars is, that due to their basic design and poor record keeping of compliances, there are now more Cooper S's running around than actually left the factory floor, as it's so easy to turn a Mini Deluxe into a Mini Cooper.

Bolt up a 1275cc motor, put in double valve springs , twin carbs, twin tanks, boot board, cooper bumpers, dash binnacle, and disc brake front end along with a few after market badges, and there you go !

You can even buy new blank compliance plates and stamp your own Cooper number into it !

Then again, I guess the only person you are fooling is yourself.

Wish I could make it to the Nats this easter, but just a bit too soon for my rebuild, but can;t wait for the FC's 50th bash in Adelaide in 08.

Cheers

Mark
