Nickers,

you are correct it is a guard stay or a fender brace.  One end is attached to the bottom of the guard and the other to the front frame.  I have them on my FB & EK but am not sure if they are used on FE - FC's

on my fe,as they are still
mounted i can't tell you
if there the same as fe-fc.
or even if fe-fc and fb-ek
are the same.anyway i'am
sure some one here will know.

Stewart where do they go as there is already a brace from the guard - where the corner bumper bar is bolted -  to the frame

          They mount between the guard & the subframe behind the front wheel. If you look along the edge of the guard lip you will see a small hole where it bolts to & the other end goes to the top of the outer subframe rail.

Nickers,

Here are some links to some pics to show the setup.

Mounted using the bolt for the bumper bar.  You can see the other guard brace in the picture as well.
