Fish Oil

I have been spraying fish oil into the doors, tail gate , rear 1/4 panels etc but the oil is so thin I'm not sure if is going to do any good? Have sprayed several coats, is there any way to thicken it up or is there some other product I can use?? or just keep pumping in the fish oil?

Nick...I'm no expert, but at least with a thinner oil, it will get into all the little nooks and crannies that a thicker oil may not get into.

My Panel beater uses it...stinks like nothing else, drips out of every little crevice, messy, BUT EFFECTIVE !

Keep using the Fish Oil even if it appears thin because fish have only a thin coat of it, and I have never seen a rusty fish!

yeah thin oil is the go - it also doesn't attract as much crud so when it does dry out, you aren't left with somewhere for water to pool and hold and transform iron into red powder.

try mixing fish oil and sewing machine oil if you want a little more weight 0- but i personally wouldn't go any heavier than this.

I'd stick with the fish oil fella, trust me. I've been using the stuff on the doors etc of my EJ for over 5 years now and even though the stuff once sprayed initially smells like buggery, I'm yet to see the slightest evidence of rust appearing (ie: it works).

Just remember to keep any drainholes cleared as I've noticed that fish oil CAN block the drainholes if the stuff is sprayed on a little thickly. I'd agree with Aaron, best not to go any higher weight-wise than mixing fish oil and sewing machine oil.

Thanks will keep going with the fish oil, might try a couple of snapper in the doors and some carp puree in the chassis.

try and blitz some dog salmon and pour that down the rails.

the high mercury content should keep the rust away for a while...
