G'day all, here a a couple of pics of the first steps in putting in a four speed box(headache) gearbox , pulling up the carpet and finding foam glued to the floor was unuasuall, then finding another patch where another shifter ? was in before the three speed i pulled out, and cutting out more of the crossmember than i thought because the reverse linkage was on the opposite side on the four speed to the three speed, anyway will ppost more pics as the conversion progresses , neaxt step is welding all the holes and ends of the crossmembers up , then reinforcing the hump , and reshaping the hump to accomodate the linkages because the shifter is forward and higher than the original position. Cheers Rusty

Hey Rusty. Taking the angle grinder to your car is always a nervous and exciting time. Looks like you are progressing nicely. The extra shifter holes show that your ol' girl has had an interesting life. Have you sorted out the gearbox mount yet? Good luck. Regards Alex

This pic is the newly reshaped inspection plate (lotsa panel work from a totaly hopeless metalworker ) all that was left to do was mount the rubber boot put carpet back on, seat in and then the big test drive. And she goes like a rocket, gearbox is VERY smooth(Thanks Ken ) All that is need now is a new boot to cover the rubber boot and of course my skull gear knob which stupid me has lost the grub screw Cheers Rusty

Ok - I've got the gear box behind the motor and the motor back into the car, but adapter didn't fit. Looking at these pics it because I haven't remove enough floor, as I have gone upto and not through the hump cross member. A little nervous here. Once cut how did you mount the box and reinforce the cross member again?
cheers Al Flamed Fe
