throttle cable sticking

My throttle cable is sticking at about 1500rpm.

I think it is an HG V8 cable and runs to a Holley 350 - is there a way to lube up the cable or to remedy the problem?

I would start by disconnecting the cable at the carburettor end & checking if it's the cable that's sticking. Sometimes you'll find that the throttle butterfly in the throttle body of your carb is not quite centred, therefore the butterfly sometimes sticks a bit in the throttle body. See how you go.

always make sure your cable is long enough that it has no sharp bends,make sure carby has no sticking parts with cable disconnected and return spring does not catch on anything in its travel as throttle shaft is turned from idle position to full open,while doing this lift cable up high while disconnected and put several drops of light oil down the cable ,all this should fix any problems ,also you can sometimes have carpet get in way of pedal so just make sure it is not touching anything ,
i cant think of anything else.

It turned out what I was sold as  V8 cable is not - I sourced a longer cable from a torana V8 and it works just fine - the bends must have been too sharp.
