Has anyone fitted one of those central locking kits youi can get from Super Cheap etc and are they any good?

I also want to install a remote boot release and was wondering what donor car I would get one out of.

Super Cheap probably have a remote boot release kit that you can buy. I got one ages ago for another project, just a couple of wires, some cable and a solenoid.

from my brief research I found most of the central locking motors to be of comparable quality.

if one fails then replacements are quite cheap thru places like Jaycar etc.

the biggest problem to overcome when fitting central locking is placing the motors as close as possbile to the lock mech itself.  You will find the standard locking rods tend to deflect if placed too far away resulting in the actuator working but the rod bending.. and your lock not actually moving.

if i were looking for a lock release, I would probably search for a commodore item first.
