hi all

it just started on sunday i was driving up the highway and the car popped out of third gear into neautral. i just put the clutch in and put it back in third and it was ok.
i travel on the highway every day and since sunday i has done it every time i have been driving on the highway for 10mins. it only does it once every trip. i never go above 70mph so its not like im flogging her. any ideas on what it could be?

Paul,

while i was browsing the FB EK forum, one of those guys had the same prob.

turned out to be the adjustment on the gearbox linkages at the lower end of the column.

I'm far from having any expertise in this area, but maybe this is a starting point.

Cheers

Hi Paul,
It could be linkage adjustment, but more likely weak syncro lock springs or other worn parts in the gearbox.

Paul,

This could also be loose bolts - gearbox to engine. Adjust the linkages, but make sure the tailshaft and uni's are in good condition and the bolts are tightened to spec. The gearbox is held in top gear by a small spring and a ball on a detent shaft, so it doesn't take much for it to jump out.

Let us know what fixes it, may help someone else.

Cheers,

Craig.
