Creeks & Groans

G'day all
Can anyone give me some advice, my FE standard has a loud creeks & groans in the rear axle area when the vehicle accelerates. Is this likely to be something to do with the axle mounting or springs or shocks?

Any & all help appreciated.

Hey Fletch,

This will most likely be the spring retainer pads - the rubber mounts that hold the rear axle to the leaf springs. You can buy them from rare spares. If its not that it will be the shackle rubbers, the rubbers that insulate the front and rear mounting points of the leaf springs. Rares have these as well.

Could it be the pads in between the springs themselves that have worn away?

Could be that the rubbers that have been described are Nolathane, not rubber. Mine has nolathane and has creaked and groaned from new. Apparently the rubber ones are quieter.

Yeah if you going to use the Nolathane bushes, make sure you use heaps of the grease with them when fitting. They are better wearing than the rubber ones. Just my 2 cents worth.
