Here's the Official Handover of Torch from the ACT to the NSW Club at the NSW All Holden Day yesterday.  This is proof that the Torch wasn't lost and it is now in the hands of NSW.  And we even had the Police with us as witnesses.

Good luck........look forward to the photos of Torch in NSW.

Of course, Kathy's photo and description gild the lily somewhat.  Yes, NSW are now in possession of the torch, but the involvement of NSW finest was greater than she lets on.  Her photo shows the Torch (and Graham) after they were subdued.

Earlier images tell the real story....

[box width=420]

Graham and Torch are read their rights (which are very few)
[/box]

[box width=420]

Torch is given some time to think about things....
[/box]

Graham was deported back to Canberra that very afternoon.  The torch has been bailed on its own recognisance to appear before y'all shortly Wink

cheers

I've done a force-refresh on the page and still see them.  Is anyone else having problems?  (Probably only one or two replies either way will do)

cheers

Thanks for the replies - the images are apparently loading OK.

On the way home from the All Holden Day, we stopped at McQuade Park, Windsor for a photo of the Torch at the site of the 8th FE-FC Holden Nationals, in 2001.

Was it really four years ago?

It has been a bit quiet on the Torch front, but hopefully that will soon be corrected.

The Torch came out to on our club run last weekend for the Shannons Eastern Creek Classic.  Here it is with a few of our members:

[box width=410]

Geoff_K with his restored FE Business Sedan
[/box]

[box width=410]

Rusty_T with his modified FE Business Sedan
[/box]

[box width=410]

John and his FC Special Sedan, on its inaugural club outing (at least since he purchased it.  This car you might recall was previously owned by Julie R in Melbourne, and by "just_mick" as well.  It has now been resprayed in its original late '59 paint scheme, which lifts it enormously.
[/box]

[box width=410]

Siggy & John Rap clowning around behind Siggy's mild FE Special Sedan
[/box]

[box width=410]

CraigA's girls with his FC Special Sedan.
[/box]

More Torch photos soon, and then it will head north to the Mid North Coast.

cheers

The NSW Club had an impromptu Torch Relay Run on the weekend just gone, with a small group of us hitting the Sydney sights and sites to get some photos of the Nats Torch.

[box width=100]
As you can see, it was a beautiful day for a cruise
[/box]

[box width=100]
We met at the Sydney Olympic precinct, home of the 2000 Olympics.  From front to back, we have Geoff & Margaret's "Gertie", RustyT's modified FE-217, Graham Fuller's stock FE, RET's FECOOL, and DickT's modified FC
[/box]

[box width=100]
Here's Geoff with the Torch.  That water-feature in the background is the Sydney Olympics Torch - picture Cathy Freeman standing in the middle of it.
[/box]

[box width=100]
We moved across the way to line up in front of one of the stadia.  Here's RET's daughter Rachael doing her bit.  Fortunately the photo is resized sufficiently to hide the scowl: Little Miss Five was not happy about this gig. Embarrassed
[/box]

[box width=100]
The cars and drivers at Homebush
[/box]

[box width=100]
[cue Chariots of Fire] Let's get this show on the road
[/box]

From here we headed into the City.  More pics to follow.

cheers

I've received the prints from Rusty now to continue this thread in correct chronological order.  Before we move on from Homebush, here are a couple of his photos:

[box width=100]
Geoff S (owner of "Gertie") in front of the Sydney Torch again.
[/box]

[box width=100]
The Torch, in front of one of the Sydney Olympic Stadia.  The flame looks quite realistic here.
[/box]

More photos to follow tomorrow.

Is that waterfall thingy, the big disc which Cathy Freeman lit at the Olympics opening ceremony, and nearly failed to proceed up to the cauldron?

Ken Huh

The very item.

Once we got on the road, we headed east into the city.

[box width=100]
The cruise follows the route of the marathon event: that's what that blue line on the road signifies
[/box]

[box width=100]

Over the Anzac Bridge, as viewed out the front and back of Rusty's FE-217
[/box]

[box width=100]
The things we do: double-parked along Hickson Road under (literally) the Harbour Bridge
[/box]

[box width=100]
Graham Fuller & RET with the Torch and the Opera House in the background.
[/box]

My apologies - I've been really busy and neglected updating this thread.  I'll post some more pics shortly.  I can tell you we sent the Torch off to the MNC in mid September, and have heard it is now in Queensland.  I better pull my finger out and getting posting before they do and the photos get out of sequence!

Kath,

I was talking to Ken the other night who mentioned that he knew it had gone from the Mid North Coast to Queensland.  Perhaps Jim or Mick might be able to shed some light (sorry, atrocious torch pun Lips sealed )

According to the schedule, Qld was supposed to send the torch on in the last week of November.

I know for a fact the torch arrived in Qld, has anybody up there actually seen it?
was any attempt made to photograph it with club members at club functions etc?
Vic committee have neither heard or seen anything of the elusive torch since it left NSW into mid North Coast and its subsequent journey into Qld.
Hopefully the good folk in SA will rectify when they get it
