Is any one running HQ brakes on  a CRS HR crossmember in an FC!
If so, What stub axles and steering arms have you used?
Am running Torana rack & pinion steering (front mounted)

The HQ stub axles are a bolt up fit.
The steering arms should work, but better let a guru highlight any problems with this.

Don't mean to highjack the thread but while we are talking HQ stubs on a HR front, I believe that HQ stubs drop your front end by about an inch, is this correct?  Also, can HQ stubs be redrilled (or is there an adapter) to fit torana or HR disks?

Geez we need a FAQ on stuff like this in the Technical Area of what fits, what doesn't and extras need to be done.

AFAIK the HQ stubs are a 1 inch drop.

Ken would know about the disk fitment.

stinky, is that "need" or "have" a FAQ section cause I can find it.  

I know we discussed the reversing of Torana disk stubs before too and dispelled the myth that that can be done to fix the geometry problems (it can't) that occur if you try and use Torana stubs but I can't find that either Huh

Sometimes you need to be creative with the search terms and make sure you put in plenty of days (I use 7000) to make sure the whole database is searched.

I have this exact set up.
HR drum stubs,
CRs adaptors
HQ brakes - girlock calipers.
torana R&P>

steering arms as supplied with CRS kit.

fits well.

on EH project about to commence, we are using HQ stubs with commoore R&P. steering arms to be determined.

Hi,
I too have this setup, HR Xmember,HQ-WB stub axles,WB PBR alloy calipers,SLR 5000 frt springs ,and HQ-WB steering arms which are non power steering arms,there was a difference between pwr and manual arms  when "RTS" was introduced in HZ range .(I think it is the length of the arms from tie rod joint to attachment to stub.
Although I must say the I have never been happy with the geometry of all this.

What you need to use depends to an extent on what steering you will be using.
HQ stub axles - yes
HQ rotors - yes
HZ alloy calipers or WB alloy calipers - yes ( one has the hose out the top, the other has the hose out the back)
If using original steering box, then use HK T G steering arms as they are as close as you will get to the correct geometry.
If using a rack then HQ non power steer arms will be OK but turning circle will be better if you use power steer arms which are shorter.  However the rack should be mounted to suit either type of arm - you cant really change from one to the other without upsetting steering geometry a bit.
P76 rotors will move the track in about 20 mm
I don't recommend CRS dropped stubs because they lower the front 3 inches and push the track out about 20 mm.

Does a commodore conversion on the front alter the track compared to HQ- WB discs.??

 I hope this helps you guys, i'm running a CRS HR Holden Chev cross member with HR control arms, HQ disc brake stub axles( which gives you about 20mm drop) new HQ discs and girlok callipers. The steering arms are HR modified by CRS. They cost about $110 change over and comply with engineering. Another thing to think of is the sway bar, i've got a 3/4" EH one in my car.
  The lock in my FE isn't too bad, it's something you get used to,( nothing a chev with LSD won't fix).
   I hope this helps in some way,

Ken,
Hubs and caliper brackets to fit commodore rotors and calipers onto HQ stub axles.
I  fitted a CRS kit to a WB ute once and it appeared to increase track quite a bit but I have no dimensions to back that up. I have just updated my rear end with commodore calipers and rotors and would like to do the front as well ..

The Commodore rotors fit and move the wheels inboard a bit.
Then use the HQ-WB calipers that came with the stub axles  but will need a washer fitted to move the caliper slightly in-board to keep it centered on the disc.
This worked for me, with rear mounted rack.
(remember this gives you the commodore stud pattern)

hey the HQ stubs will bolt strait up i,v done it my self but i got it under a HR all i,m looking 4 now to finish my beast off is a good diff coz i,v smashed 2 diffs and 2 pairs of axels dropin it TEXT

Alan, The CRS conversion kit fits the VB to VS rotors and calipers and does move the wheels out about 20 mm since I believe it uses drum brake stub axles and a 2 piece bracket arrangement.
Hoppers Stoppers do a conversion kit to suit either HQ axles or HR axles
The HR axle kit will move the track out 25 mm and uses AU Falcon rotors and calipers (290mm diameter)
The HQ kit does not move the wheels out at all and uses BA Falcon rotors and AU calipers (300mm diameter)
The Hoppers Stoppers kit is far superior in my opinion as it uses latest technology twin piston calipers and big vented rotors.
