Just curious about lowering my wagon that still has the kingping front end.
Will lowered HR springs fit? as I have a spare set or should I forget the idea until I fit a HR front end.

Should you not be in bed at this time of day. Wink

Stinky
Hold off until you put the HR front end in, this save's double handling.

Cheers

I cut my kingpin springs when it had the kingpin front end, I think I took 40% off and it was ok but when I went to take of some more it was too much and the springs were useless, also before lowering the back, the big rake the car sat on made it steer like crap.
I quickly fixed this with lowering blocks.
but then the back was still too high so I had the springs lowered 2" and a extra leaf added as I was also getting bad axle tramp.
after a while I started feeling a bit high again so I put bigger blocks in and was satisfied but it started scraping everywere.
I didnt want to lift it back up as I still felt the need to go lower.
next thing I decided to go back to smaller blocks, had the springs lowered another inch, got the eyes reversed and fitted air shocks with big washers on top so the wouldnt break through the weak top mounts.
this was good but I ended up wanting to drive everywere low and this meant stopping at the servo everyday to raise it back up to get in the driveway.
next 6thing I went and bought a $25 tyre compressor and stuck it in the spare wheel well but went I hooked it all up the compressor lifted the car halfway and blew up. I took it down and swapped it with a cash adjustment for a $95 one.
this was good but it was a bit slow, one day I found the long wire that was suplied with it was getting red hot, I ended up doubling the wire and fitting a relay, this made it about 40% faster, now the only problem was that everytime I got out the driveway I had to get out to lower it, I rang around some suspension shops and tracked a supplier who sold me some of the airline and olives for the air shocks and stuck a valve in the dash.
this meant that I could get out my driveway, drop it without getting out and then lift it back up in 45 seconds to get back in the driveway.
now I had a problem with the tailshaft and tunnel, about  the last foot of the tunnel at the back was to low, hopefully I fixed that yesterday, you cant go to big or you have to modify the back seat if you have a wagon, also the bumpstops keep it limited and these are probably were my next problem will be, it already chews good ones out in weeks.
the front end can be dropped further with lowered stubs but you are supposed to run 14" rims witch would bring it back up unless you use low profile tyres wich dont go with the look of my car.
a set of lakes pipes should give a dramatic low look from the sides and is to be soon added and functional on my car.
the car goes better around round abouts being so low but everywere else appearance is the only advantage, as well as it becomes even easier to see small children out the back when you are reversing.
for the full child safe set up, I would recomend some loud pipes with a little crackle when you fire it up. my kids are not only clearly visible but they jump and run  when I start it, you cant get much more childsafe than that

I may be wrong, but I think the FC and HR springs are a different diametre?

If you were wanting to lower the car, lowered stub axles would be the best way, but that requires an HR front end anyway.

Good story leon ,Youre straight out of an american rat rod magazine mate ,Low buck high impact .

I drove the FB on cut down HQ V8 coils with my King Pin front end for years with no probs.
When I installed the springs they touched on about 1/3rd of the coil tower so I shaved some from the spring and some from the tower , "I drove on these for years" with a firm ride but not stiff ,bump stops can be ordered half the original height too.
And did i mention I drove on these for years.
