Hi,

I hope to install a twin point distributer on the weekend to replace my single point job.

I will be pulling the dizzy off my "unfished" donor motor I bought, which has not been started.  As far as I know the points have already been set.

I understand that you just need to have the no.1 cylinder at TDC for correct installation?

The new dizzy does not have vacuum advance - will this cause too many problems?

Should I block off the vacuum advance inlet on the carburettor or leave it open?

Regards
Dave

Hi Dave,
You need to have the No1 cylinder on TDC on the compression stroke. Wink
The vacuum advance is mainly a economy device on standard motors and you should block off the the vacuum port at the carby.
My opinion of twin point dizzys= double trouble.
My choice would be a electronic dizzy from a VC-VH and some VK 6 Commodores or a WB 6.

Thank you Ace,

you're a champ Grin  I will source an electronic dizzy, although since I had this new twin point sitting around and paid next to nothing for it I thought I may as well give it a run in the interim.

Cheers
Dave
