Can someone tell me if the front spring hanger bolt is threaded into the holding plate I am having trouble removing it

Peter,  no its not threaded, but these things get VERY tight after a few years.  The best way to get them out is with a long heavy drift with a big hammer.
Dont worry about damaging them getting them out, because they are usually no good anyway due to wear and rust on the shaft.

Repro ones are available from Rare Spares
