I've got the original floor mats in my car (with the blue "fleck" on them). A small hole has been worn blow the accelerator, where the heel rests. In addition, there are a few tears in the rubber. Does anybody know of a product that can repair the tears and/or stop them from getting any worse? Thanks for your help, Martin  |

What about a nasco heel pad,would that hide it.

Very droll, Kiwi.  Thanks, Geoff. I've got it covered with a rubber-back floor mat to hide the hole and stop it getting worse, but given the overall condition of the rest of the mat, I'd like to repair if possible. Thanks Martin |

I'd be getting down to a Clark Rubber store, or there's also a place on Anzac Highway just down from the ETSA building (next to Ian Berry?). I am sure they would have products if not advice.

I hear you, Glenn, thanks; but sometimes I like to go to these places with a bit of prior knowledge - it's avoided me buying a pup on a couple of occasions.
I know the place on Anzac Highway. If all else fails, I'll glue a piece on the underside.

im pretty sure what geoff meant was a nasco heel pad accessory for the accelarator pedal, where the heel rest sounds like what you need depending on your hole size(jeez that sounds personal) has been a couple on ebay recently.

The heel pad that Geoff spoke of. 4 Hammers had one for sale recently on e-bay. Also what other repairs do you have to fix. any chance of a pic.

The other repairs are tears in the rubber mat - a rip about 100mm coming out from the dip switch; and the bit of the front mat the sits between the door and the front seat has been separated from the main body of the mat. I'll borrow my lad's digital camera and send you a couple of pics in a week or so.

If its just tears and all the pieces fit back neatly you should be able to rejoin the the tear with superglue. Just as you would any other seal or O ring, you may need to remove the mat so you can move the tear around freely. Just glue down one side then push the tear together hold for a moment and if you get them right you wont notice the repair. I have done this in the past it's time consuming but whats not when you want it done right. Good luck and hope that this helps you in some way. If it a long repair just do a small section at a time.
