How many people fit in an FE?

Just found this pic, apparently it ran in last Saturday's "The Age" in Melbourne... not sure exactly what the pic is about, but there's a bunch of university students in Melboune standing on and around this poor FE on August 3rd, 1971. Some sort of promo or something...?? Maybe someone you know was there...?

How many people can you fit in an FE I wonder...

Might be an advert for Pedders suspension, or Kmac Stabilizers?

Could have been a contest- filling Mini Minors with people was all the rage with uni students around this time.

Is that an FE standard?

I tried to get closer, but photobucket keeps reducing the size of the images ... yes, I think it is a Standard.... no indicator on the passenger side front, and no chrome on the doors... but you can see the holes were a visor used to be...!

Definitely a standard or biz sedan - there's no lock in the driver's door either.

I notice the back seat is lying in the background of the first photo - I guess to make some more room for students!

Apparently this is what is known as "car cramming"..

the Germans have set the record at 27 people in a volkswagen beetle.

My step son Clovis and I were debating whether or not removal of seats was allowed, and the apprent danger to one's health in engaging in the activity of "car cramming".

I would have thought that removing parts out of the car was cheating.  On reflection it must be a 215 and not a 217, or there'd be a taxi-rail sitting next to the seat  (For that matter you'd fit more people in by removing the front seat, surely!)

Got to be a 215 since 217 had a plastic surround on the base of the rear seat. Since there is no surround on the seat in the photo then 215 it is.
The car actually has a sunvisor - not Nasco but another different one was fitted beforehand
