I was told by R & E Auto parts in Dandenong VIC that EH brake drums are the same a FE - FC brake drums.

Can someone confirm that please.

At $88 each has anyone got a cheaper solution.  My drums are almost at minimum thickness, rather than pay for one machining I thought new drums might be the way to go.

Kevin,

FWIK The EH drums are wider than the standard FE FC type. You could fit them but would need to change to EH brake internals.

Cheers,

Craig.

Thanks Craig, that answers that.

As it happened the FC drums I don't think have ever been machined and with only slight wear the turned up nicely.  Saved me $88 per corner.

The rears are now done, new wheel cylinders, new shoes, new axel bearing and oil seal.  Came up a treat.

I'll tackle the fronts tomorrow.

The new brake wheel cylinders were $65 each, all the new brake shoes were $39 x 2 (no change over, so I still have the old ones) for front and rear, and machining I did myself at a mates workshop.

Kevin,
I have an old mechanic mate who use to own a brake shop, and he wanted to upgrade mine to EH, apparently the are wider than FC and you have to mount up complete from backing plate.

They use to do this mod to there race cars and it was the best result they got in that era
