Just out of interest I was wondering what was some of the lettering of the original number plates in 57/58 in Queensland. Other states would also be of interest.
Thanks

Jason, as follows ROUGHLY from 1956 to 1959
Vic - GNA 000 to HCZ 000
NSW - BCA 000 to BZZ 000
QLD - NAA 000 to NJZ 000
ACT - YAA 000 to YXZ 000     not really sure about ACT
SA - 100 100 to 900 900     confusing!!!!!!!

If anyone can add some clarity about how in the world SA number plate sequences work it would be very helpful as all the numbers I have got don't seem to make sense in an orderly fashion.

 Grin Grin Grin
That's really impressive Ken,
What is your educated guess for March '58 in Queensland? Grin Grin Grin
Just toying with the idea of trying to put close to the original plate on the Van, as up here a personalised plate costs $1800, but for $175 I can get a plate using the first letter of N, O, or P and lucky enough the 'N' falls into the right catagory.
Another way will be to approach the transport department, but am not sure on how readily they will part with the information... If they have it.
I will have to think of some other trivia for you.
Thanks for the information.

GIDDAY JASON

MY DAD HAD AN FE REGISTERED JAN '57 WITH VICTORIAN REG GPD495. THIS IS THE REG I PLAN TO PUT ON MY '58 FE IF I CAN'T TRACK DOWN ITS ORIGINAL.

Jason
I have an FE which I think would have been registered in late 57 or early 58.
It's registration number is NFR-724.
