Flamethrowers and EFI??

Hello.

Im curious to know how (if possible) I could use flamethrowers and have EFI???

From my understanding flamethrowers work by turning off the spark, and allowing the fuel to flow thru the exhaust where a spark plug iignites the fuel causing the flame throw effect.

now... with EFI..

the O2 sensor would measure a rich mixture and reduce the injector pulses .. so no flame throw effect..

Is it possible to trick the ECM into thinking everything is OK, to allow fuel to be sent into the exhaust for the flame throw trickery??

perhaps mimiciking the O2 sensor signal voltage is the easiest??

any help would be appreicated.

I have seen Leon brand flame throwers in action.(nice). which has lead me to posting questions about it.

the problem lies in tricking my ECU in believing everything is A OK.

Rather than playing with the engine electronics, some guys use an injector in the exhaust to add the fuel to the mix. Produces a bigger flame also. Not sure how safe that would be though.

Now thats a nifty idea Alex.

it hadn't even crossed my mind.

idea is stored... the thought of making up lines for a rear mount injector has already given me a headache.. i will stick to painting for now.

I seen the flamethrowers in action on Ben's V8 hr wagon
it looks fantastic at night . I would like them on my wagon as well & as I am rewiring the car now this might be the best time to install them. So who does the kits & at what cost ?
