O/T One Serious Chop

This is a page from my desk calendar a couple of days ago.  Anyone car to take a stab at how many inches have been taken out of that roof?  I'm thinking quite a few

The text reads: "1939 Ford Pierson Bros. coupe, 1939 Lincoln Zephyr coupe 'Scrape'."

IIRC "Scrape" is the body on which Ben Gatt's red Zephyr doing the show circuit at the moment is based.  Pity there's not a bit more of it in the photo.

AAAHHH, a post about one of my favourite cars.
The Pierson Bros Coupe was a 1934 Ford built for Salt Flat racing at Bonneville.
The car was built by the Pierson Bros, Bob and Dick, with their friend Bobby Meeks assembling the engine.



The car was recently restored to it's former glory, and is owned by Bruce Meyer, who has a car collection worth dying for.




I have a 1/64 Hot Wheels version of the coupe, signed by both brothers. Dick in white and Bob's in gold below it. (BTW, the other car in the pic is the So-Cal bellytank, also signed by the original owner, Alex Xydais. So-Cal speedshop did the restoration on the coupe)

I'm not sure if it was this car, but I once read that the serious chop was done as a way around a rule that specified  a min. windscreen hieght, so a laid back 'screen was a way to beat the system and gain aerodynamics.
