Hi
This picture was taken in Adelaide in about 1970, the Street Rod belonged to John Lee, but I don't know anything about the FE custom in the background, looks like it was a pretty neat car-anybody have any info on this vehicle
Cheers

Hi.
Yes, I think I do. I have a "HOT ROD" magazine at home that was very early, maybe even issue one. The Rod is in there & also a a small article on what I am sure is that FC. I will dig it out tonight & see if it is the same car.

Great shot.
Love the colour of that FE. Looks like International headlights. Hey Rob, be sure to post those pics if you find 'em.
Regards
Alex

Hi Guys.
Yes, I got it. It is out of the "Australian Hot Rod Yearbook" which I think is from 1978 (it is talking about the "New" A9X Torana").
That rod may not be the same one in my mag, but it is very similar.
But the FE, yes it is the same one. There isn't much info on it, but definately the same.
It was running a Triple downdraught strommie set up on a Hot Red. Had big success in all the Custom shows. Also had a few rebuilds on the way.
I will send the mag up to you with the CD Alex, so you can have a look & scan of the photos.
I will email you again soon.

Jock & Rob
I've found a car that looks similar to the FE , this one belonged to Gene Francis at the "1976 Brisbane Hot Rod Spectacular"  (Reg. No PGB 789). Pic is B&W but says it is "Barnes Blue Metalic" . Will try & take a pic tomorrow (no scanner) and post it.

  Norm

PS  Says it runs a 186 w/ triple strombergs ?

Now that I am a "Master Of Posting Photos", I will scan the shots in the magazine off & post them here.
Yes, Norm. It was a 186 with triples. Probably the same car. I haven't got the mag here (at work), so can't confirm the rego & owner. Will let you know later.

That's the one, my man!! PGB.789 Grin
Here is a shot from that magazine I have. I was running that Red when this shot was taken. Had good brakes (Dual cicuit) & I just noticed in the other shot in the mag, it has one of those very rare Nasco electric wiper conversions for FE to FB.
The other car in the shot belongs to the same fella. Maybe it is the rod in the shot, before or after the covertable conversion? Who knows?
